I was looking for a replacement for my carbon fibre Sirui, which was not the most stable for sure, my decision to upgrade came as a result of the legs locking mechanism, they seem a little flimsy on the Sirui and a couple of times they seized on me, causing a few issues. I did my online research and this tripod got very good reviews and positive write ups. I went with Aluminium over CF as I wanted the extra stability, and whilst I do carry my tripod around on my backpack, I am not trekking over mountains or for extended periods so the additional weight isn't an issue. This is a beast, extremely well made and rugged and stable, I am particularly happy with the leg locking mechanism following on my from Sirui issues - not the slickest mechanism for sure, but you just know it is built to last, Great ball head with an additional adjuster for minor tracking and movement changes - Would definitely recommend this tripod - no worries, it is stable and rugged, feels heavy at first though it packs away to a very small size for travelling, but the added weight shouldn't be an issue, unless you are going well off the beaten track, I would go with the stability and ruggedness of the aluminium version, not to mention the price saving too!! 5 |
