Buy Fretless Bass

I am a bassist that plays a fretless electric upright bass and sings background vocals in several bands. Because I have to look at my fingerboard regularly to check my intonation, it's hard to use a traditional stand-mounted mic. I got a Shure SM-35 headworn condenser mic (phantom power required), but needed a way to turn the mic off when I was not singing. After looking at several switches, I bought this one and used it at a gig last night. It worked exactly as advertised - no noise, no popping, no problems. The only issue I had was a difficulty plugging in the mic itself - the input on the Power Mute was very tight and it took a rather strong attempt to get the XLR connector in to make a good connection and locked. It could just need a break-in period, but that was the only problem I had with it.

Very good value for the money, that's for sure! I've used it once so far, and it sounds great. I never expected to be able to buy a great sounding bass drum mic for so cheap.

TL;DR: Buy these headphones if you want crystal clear tones, good Bass, and great balance. You're probably stuck with the three cables that come with the headphones, so don't lose them! I purchased these headphones because I've been practicing Bass Guitar and I wanted to pick up the lower tones properly and really hear what's going on. These headphones deliver on that goal. There are two things that may concern you: First off, the top band (in black) compresses when you put the headphones on. Especially if you have a big head, like me... And you may worry about cracking in the fabric. I took a look at pair of AT headphones I've had for 5+ years, and they're holding up fine -- no cracks. Secondly, the headphone jack that is on the headphones has a locking mechanism. This appears to be a non-standard fitting which means you will only be able to use cables that are compatible (only those from Audio-Technica most likely) however the three cables that come with the headphones will most likely hit all your use cases.
