Bypass Att Gateway Plug Into Computer Without Modem

Bought the SVG2482R Modem/Gateway to use for Comcast service; Phone and Internet. The online set-up with Comcast takes time, as the Modem took time(15 minutes) to activate and reboot and with the Comcast service in MN, but overall an easy process. Once connected, the performance is great ( 200 Mbps) for the Blast service. The only negative is that the modem is larger, than any previous modem/router I have had. So, had to get creative to hide it, but not affect the wireless in the house.

Modem has worked as advertised. We are completely satisfied with this purchase. It allowed us to switch from att to Comcast for a much faster speed.

Works great in our CBS construction home - ATT issued modem/router couldn’t provide a strong signal throughout our home. Orbi fixed our WiFi woes. Also really like the Orbi app.

Then this is what you need to connect to your computer. Why spend more money on an interface with inferior preamps and ADCs that you will just bypass?

Open box and turn on and down load old file and Att Office 365 . Back in business with my first personal Computer after 46 years of it being a life line . Bye bye work computer. . Now a fun computer !!

I broke down and tried a Comcast XB8 rental gateway. It's operating at 1200/200. So: 200Mbps upload speed is available to me. It appears that Comcast set the Arris modem to 1200/35. The modem may be worth 5 star review, but it may be that Comcast won't support it properly, even though it is one of the few modems on the list for their next gen speed tier. Caveat emptor.

After using the gateway provided by my ISP for years I always felt something was off/missing. When I upgraded to a modem and router of my own instead of renting I immediately noticed a difference. Better connectivity, faster response, lower latency, and almost no lag ever. Significant drop in ping in online games as well.

This AP puts out a strong signal across my property, and with a suitable 802.11ac receiver I am able to obtain up to 800Mbps of actual throughput. Configuration is dead simple; don't let people who don't understand what this device actually does fool you. It is NOT a gateway, and cannot be plugged directly into a modem/on a switch with a modem. You will need a separate firewall/gateway/DHCP server. Download the Ubiquiti app and follow the directions to configure it as a standalone (no controller is necessary for one or two APs, although the controller gets you more features.) All in all a great product at an extremely reasonable price.

It's a modem. You plug it into the wall and then into a router and you get internet.
