Cable Matters Thunderbolt 3 Dock Power Failure

This dock has everything I need: USB-A, USB-C, and Thunderbolt ports (with Power Delivery), a 10 Gbps Ethernet port for network-attached storage, an SD card reader, and (... wait for it ...) a CFExpress Type B reader! There may be other docks out there with a CFExpress Type B reader, but this is the only one I've seen so far. Since my cameras all use either SD or CFExpress Type B cards, this clinched it for me. It doesn't come cheap, though, but for me it was worth it.

This Thunderbolt 3 dock has it all! Power delivery is stable, all the ports still works after a year and it automatically goes into standby when my MPB is disconnected or in sleep mode! What more can you ask for? I would give it 6 stars if I could~!

My iMac only has two Thunderbolt ports so I was always juggling cables to feed various gear. With this dock, there is enough power to support two monitors, a second monitor and several other items. All good.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This dock makes having a laptop replace a desktop a snap - without sacrificing ports or external monitors. I greatly appreciate the design of the connector cable with the power and Thunderbolt leads snapping together magnetically instead of being a single unit. This allows you to use it as a regular USB-C/Thunderbolt dock on other systems without Lenovo's power plug while perfectly aligning to the power/Thunderbolt ports on my P17. Reliable connections, great size for a desktop, and the added USB-A/C/3.5mm combo jack on the front means you can add or remove things easily too. Definitely recommended.

I have a Mac with 4 USB 3 ports and a Thunderbolt Dock with 3 USB 3 ports, but I still needed a convenient location with powered USB 3 ports for frequently used devices such as iOS devices and thumb drives. This fits the bill perfectly. It conveniently sits on top where it is easy to plug & unplug devices. It has a small blue pilot light that confirms that it has power. It will work without external power in an emergency if the devices that are plugged in don't demand much power.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Thunderbolt 4 Workstation dock to go with my Lenova P15 Gen2 ThinkPad, which is equipped with two Thunderbolt 4 ports. I am running two 4k monitors on the DisplayPort connections. The workstation dock come with its own 300 watt power supply, so now I have the 230 watt laptop power supply to throw in my computer bag. It is very easy to disconnect from wit the dual power and Thunderbolt 4 cable. I haven't tried to hook up 4 monitors yet, but I will probably try at some time.

Works fine using a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s and ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Dock. One minor issue is the power button on the dock does not work, but no big deal.

This dock delivers. One USB-C Thunderbolt cable to the HP laptop is all that is needed to drive 2 27 inch monitors, wireless mouse & keyboard, webcam, and a USB thumb drive. The cable also maintains a charge on the laptop and all that is needed is a single touch to the power button on the dock to wake the system.

Using with dock with a late 2020 MacBookPro 13 M1 w 16gig.  I love having just one cable to attach to an external dock for all attachments including power!   Using the dock with an external 4k display, 3 or 4 hard drives, and a secondary older USB 2.0 dock (a/c powered) that I attach to this dock -- for a variety of low powered external devices such as camera or microphone. IMPORTANT: The dock great with the enclosed half meter cable but when I tried a longer cable, it failed to drive everything adequately, even though I checked the spec carefully and also it was a reliable brand (I think it was Anker).   I read a LOT about Thunderbolt 3 cables that afternoon and what I found is that everything DOES change once you exceed half a meter.   You may notice that a one meter Thunderbolt cable can oddly more than a half a meter cable. Why? There is some kind of extra internal circuit needed once you exceed the half meter point. Still, even with a proper one meter Thunderbolt 3 cable I could not get the full capabilities to work as I described above. I did not try other brands of cables, just decided to leave well enough alone.

I have purchased several hundred of these discs and have not had a single failure. Not sure if it matters, but I always make sure I order the pack with the exact same barcode. I have had the same experience with the blu-ray version of these discs.
