I am a Canon user, I got a Nokon D700 with a 50mm 1.4 lens a while back so I wanted to utilize camera as I did not want to sell it so I got this prime and another prime to go with the Nikon kit. I simply love everything about it. My fav from the Canon world is the 85mm 1.2 and this one is next in line in my setup.

This is my favorite lens on the Canon side. I was shooting with a Nikon D700 and a 14-24 f/2.8. That was my favorite on the Nikon side but with Canon this is my favorite. Why is it my favorite? These wide angle lenses are sharp! And fast! This is much lighter than the Nikon 14-24.

Excellent CLS control for off camera flash. Used on a Nikon D3 and D700 for off camera flash control.

Good protection for your camera without being bulky. I am still getting use to my camera and the locations of control buttons, but better safe than sorry, wish they made it for the D700.

When this tripod was delivered my first response was to return it. I did not think it was strong enough however, I had a change of mind. I am used to my wood berlebach tripods and I realized it was unfair to compare them. I bought it for air travel because of it's size and weight. When I use my Nikon D700 and 28-300 lens without the battery grip it is just fine. I decided to keep it but trade to the Carbon fiber model and canceled that too. I will be going to Malta shortly and my equipment will be the D700 with the 28-300 Nikkor. That will go in a 'MindShift 30' padded camera cover and inside that will also be my Nikkor 16mm FE lens in a pouch.I use the BlackRapid Cargo Strap on the camera and it carries three 32gb Sandisk cards two batteries and 'Zeiss' lens wipes and cloth. Put all that together and that is 11.4 pounds with the Aluminum Mefoto Globetrotter, plus I will have a filter pouch with four filter. I have been testing this camera/lens combination around town and with macro setups and it works just wonderful. It is very easy to extend the legs and center post and folds very short. All in all it seems to be excellent for what it is made for and what I will use it for. The pictures I have posted with this are using the tripod and the mentioned equipment.

Have used this to protect my D700 when traveling light. Works well if you need a way to protect your camera if you had to put it in a travel bag or a back pack. Protected the camera against other items that moved around in my back pack during my last trip. Nice to have.

Whatever your thoughts about the pricey price of this Nikon D800 Battery Pack it is an essential accessory. The camera tends to use up batteries at a pretty fast rate so it would behoove one to have additional power. You don't want to have a battery fade out in the middle of an important session, especially if you are running the system remotely or doing a smooth video shot. The battery pack makes the camera system more symmetrical and very easy to use vertically. I don't think the extra weight is an issue when you are firing off 36 Meg Pixel images as though it was a medium-format camera which is twice as heavy. It handles just like the battery pack for my D700. It makes the camera less jittery and provides a lower center of gravity with larger and heavier lenses. That is a necessity. A caveat on my review. I still have my own D800 on backorder. However, I have already purchased the 128 meg CF and SD Chips, extra EN-EL 15 batteries, a dual battery charger, and a remote control. My D700 FX lenses; F2.8 14-24, F2.8 70-200, F2.8 105, F1.4 50 are all smoothly compatible. A friend allowed me to try out his D800, in his presence, with my gear and it was amazing. The extra $ for the battery pack at this point in incidental.
