No matter what camera I purchase, if it has a viewing screen, I purchase a hard glass protector.

My Nikon D3S camera didn't come with one of the cheap plastic rear LCD screen protectors. So I started looking for something to put over mine to keep it from scratching. The best and relatively similar in price was this Aegis Pro glass optic screen protector. This screen protector is awesome, the layered glass is thin, yet very durable. Since it is optic glass, there is no glare when using outside and it seals so no moisture gets between it and the LCD screen. It is easy to install and removing it takes a little work because of the seal.I am ordering one to fit on my other Nikon cameras and junking the plastic covers.

I've now installed LCD screen protectors on about 10 cameras, going back at least a decade. In fact, the very first one I installed was a lifesaver. I managed to drop a Nikon D750 five feet onto a concrete floor. It landed directly on the LCD area. The screen protector was shattered; the monitor was perfect. I picked up the camera, which was fine, bought another screen protector, and I continue to use that D750 to this day. It made me a believer in protection screens. And D750s. Installation of these things is tricky. Read the directions -- carefully -- before starting the task. The LCD screen must be squeaky clean, and the glass itself must be centered exactly over the screen. BUT -- do not despair if the glass goes on slightly off-center. Careful pressure with the edge of Vello's guitar-pick-like plastic applicator tool -- exerted laterally on the edge of the screen protector -- should allow you to center it. If the glass is not centered, it may not adhere properly, depending on the camera. I have never had a screen protector come off unless I took it off. And I have observed that used-equipment webpages across the Internet are littered with cameras that are rated good rather than excellent just because of scratches and nicks on the LCD monitor.

For a first time camera owner, the Transparent Edge-to-Edge Glass LCD Optical Screen Protector for Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX10K Camera has been absolutely perfect. It was very easy to apply, and I have noticed zero air bubbles pop up since I first put it on. Easy to clean.

I recently purchased the Canon R10 from B&H. This camera's LCD rotates and can be stored flush in the back of the camera where the screen is not exposed during storage. I have used the Vello screen protector in the past and this version for the R10 works as advertised. My concern was that the screen would not fit back into the cavity the same way as it does without the protector but it fits perfectly clicking back into place. The touch screen with the Vello glass in place works without any problem and is as sensitive as without. Took 2 tries to center the glass but was able to remove and recenter without too much trouble. Highly recommended.

I dropped my camera the other week which cracked this glass protector but the screen underneath it was untouched, worked perfectly.
