5 stars! Stable and very easy to adjust level with slider on.

I am enjoying this new lens very much. As others have stated, it is sharp and the OSS makes handheld shots easy. What I've enjoyed the most is the variety of focal lengths that can be achieved using the crop-mode with the A7RIII in combination with the 1.4x teleconverter. Basically you can go from 100mm to 840mm -- plus even longer if you use ClearImage Zoom.

I use it as my standard lens. I also prefer to use it because it has OSS, my a6000 camera does not, and I have hand tremors. It's also a fast lens.

This is my first lens on my first full-frame camera, and I am a relatively inexperienced photographer, but I can say that it's been a pleasure to work with! I originally bought the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS. It produced very pretty images but it arrived with major dust in the lens, so I returned it and decided to try the Sigma for comparison. Turns out it's actually better! Overall impressions: image quality is way beyond my skill level, construction quality is top-notch, and the buttons and switches are straightforward (although I would prefer if the AF/MF switch wasn't quite so stiff). AF is pretty slow when focusing on a very close subject, but this was true on the Sony as well. MF works fine, though as others have noted, the Sony feels a bit more responsive. Everyone goes on about how cool the AF clutch mechanism on the Sony but it's actually really stupid, because the MF operation is absolute in that when you switch to manual, the lens moves back to wherever it was the last time you were on manual. It is therefore completely impossible to use AF to get close and then switch to MF to fine-tune. Whereas on the Sigma, this is quite easy due to the relative operation of the MF ring. Unlike the Sony this lens does not have optical stabilization, but honestly I didn't notice any real difference in clarity, and I shoot almost exclusively handheld. Perhaps my A7 III's sensor stabilization is to thank, or perhaps my grip is so shaky that even the Sony OSS can't salvage things. The only real downside with the Sigma is the ridiculously large focus ring. It is extremely hard to rest the camera on anything without moving this ring. The ring on the Sony is smaller and is not rubber-coated, which is just as easy to turn when I want to, but harder to move accidentally. In summary, great lens! If cost is a concern I would definitely say it's a better value than the Sony 90mm.

The Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS was purchased as a "Start-Up" for a Sony a7RIII. It was affordable and a good lens to get you familiar with how full frame Sony's work. With Sony "Super 35" & "Zoom" it is very veristal and can get you very familiar with the a camera. Also as a base lens with a camera that has a high ISO it can come in very handy. The sharpness isn't bad at all, nice and lite, but remember it is only 3.5-5.6 and only 70mm is the max.

My Vario-Tessar T FE 24-70mm F4 AZ OSS performed wonderfully as I played with my new "a-7" mirrorless camera system during a week in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, recently. Easy of handling, and pristine focus capabilities made for a cakewalk....... with more practice I will be able to push the envelope a bit.......many thanks for a superb product,.
