Camera Video Camcorder

I use this monopod for my video camcorder. I have the Canon XH-A1s, and this pod is sturdy enough to hold my camera with the shotgun mic, and on-camera light. It can compress pretty small for low shots or for storage purposes... But the great thing is that it can extend to a decent enough height... Being that I'm 6'3.

With my video camcorder it works Great, I am well pleased!

I use this head on a CowboyStudio Shoulder Support Pad for Video Camcorder Camera DV / DC. In order to attach the head to the shoulder pad I purchased an Oben 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 Reducer Bushing. This set up allows me to have hands-free operation of my camera and more stable footage. I also am able to record with less fatigue for hours at a time. The head makes it possible for me to get cool angles, better pans, and better tilt shots. The head is smooth, well made, and precise. I also like and often use the quick release. I highly recommend it. So far--no cons except that it's heavy but I'm not sure that's really a con since I wanted a head that was well made and durable.

All I can say is this camera produces great video under most all conditions. I have nothing but praise for this model, the price, the quality, ease of use, and of course the HD video.It is small and light and very easy to carry around.You just have to get use to the fact that it is very small and learn to grip it so it's more comfortable to hold.Some guys have bad things to say about the low light video, I find it very good if you play with the settings.This HF200 had everything I was looking for in a very affordable Canon HD flash memory camcorder.The only thing I added to the camera was a larger capacity battery, U/V filter/lens protector and I also found the Sunpak 37mm .5 wide angle lens works perfect as long as you don't use the zoom beyond 2-3x.The lens is also small enough to not interfere with the flash or video light and it also does not affect the IAF. Unlike the big and heavy Canon w/a lens.As many have said the one thing they would have liked to see in this model was a wider lens.The Sunpak (SKU 7726482) CAL-1030KITBB makes this camera all it can be. I would buy this camera again in a heart beat.For me this camcorder is 5 stars all the way....

As always, B&H comes through!! I bought a video camera from B&H about 10 years ago. My battery took a dump. They had a substitute battery that worked great. Already charged & put in the camcorder. I love the camcorder mainly due to its simplicity of using it. Very happy camper as always with this company who I have done business with over 20 years!!

I purchased the VIXIA HF M31 camcorder after becoming familiar with the slightly older VIXIA HG20 I purchased for work. I looked over several similar models outside the Canon VIXIA line, but found myself attracted to the VIXIA HF M31. I use this camcorder for both casual home video and professional work. The quality is THAT GOOD! The HF M31 uses 32GB flash RAM. There is no hard drive so concerns over shock or corrupt data are largely eliminated. It's also faster to power up and shoot when compared to hard disk based recorders. It includes a secondary SDHC memory slot for expanding storage space and allowing the ease of data transport from camera to computer. The HF M31 is largely controlled through a touchscreen LCD with a menu system that is quite intuitive. Setting white balance for changing light conditions is straightforward and quick. It will take some time to get used to the amount of pressure required to activate the touch screen. Perhaps the strongest feature with this camera is it's amazing image stabilization. Small hand-held cameras such as this one make it difficult to keep steady. However, Canon's stabilizer technology, especially when using the POWERED IS (Image Stabilization) button makes your video look far better than it should. Gentle pannning appears like it was shot on a tripod. Even maximum zooming shots hold tight in the frame. Audio recording is well above average for on-camera microphones. An input for an external mic is available. I have not yet used the mini-shoe for a boom mic, but have purchased an adapter in order to use standard shoe accessories. I highly recommend this camcorder to anyone wanting to capture HD video, up to the videomaker who seeks to take a small camera on the go. It's compact, light weight, and a big bang for the buck.

After a lot of research, I decided on the Canon VIXIA HF M400 camcorder. I chose the HF M400 because it uses the HD CMOS Pro sensor and has a DIGIC III processor in it. The HD CMOS Pro is a 2.07 mega-pixel sensor, that is a native-mode 1920 x 1080 high-definition sensor. It is a larger sensor than most of the competition in physical size-- which means that each individual photo-site is larger and has more light-gathering potential. The result is clearer, brighter video in low-light shooting situations. Another MUST HAVE feature for me was a jack for an external microphone. I bought a Rode VideoMic and took the camera to a Holiday Music concert in Columbus, Ohio. I mounted the camera on a C shaped bracket with a cold-shoe mount. That put the microphone off-camera and straight above the lens. This gave me professional-quality audio with no possibility of lens noise or vibration being picked up from the camera. I mounted the whole assembly on my Manfrotto tripod and my results were FANTASTIC! When it comes to video lenses, a 10x zoom is probably the best option in a consumer or prosumer camcorder. The longer your lens focal length, the less light gets to your sensor. That means lower-quality video. The HF 400 has a fine-quality Canon-made lens. If I made a wishlist for this camcorder I'd love to have an external charger rather than charging the battery in the camera. A bigger battery would be nice as standard equipment rather than an option. It would be nice to have a lens hood. Still, the camcorder kit has everything the average person needs. I'll be using this camcorder to make videos for a music magazine I publish. It's a great camcorder and is value-priced. BH Photo's service is second to none, that's why I came here to make my investment.

I am far from a professional videographer. My main purpose for buying this camcorder was for fun and to record those events that you want to always remember. If you can press a power button and a record button, you can use this camera. I realize that most are this simple, but the price and quality of this Canon will be hard to beat. I did purhcase an extended battery and additional SD memory card, but neither of these is immediately necessary as the standard battery will last as long as it takes to fill the internal memory with a full HD recording. The touchscreen is clear and allows you to touch an object or person in the shot to always keep it in focus. The hot-shoe will allow you to attach various microphones and lights, and it comes with nearly every output connection you could want in order to play your video directly to a television. I use a Mac and had no trouble copying video over from the camera into iMovie 11. This was a concern of mine at first, but after importing video at full quality I was very satisfied. It worked well without any difficulty. If you're looking for an easy-to-use camcorder that is flexible in the accessory department, accepts additional lenses, has incredible image stabilization (and I do mean incredible), amazing low-light performance, and Canon quality, then look no further. This camera fits the bill perfectly.

Used for connecting on-camera field video monitor to camcorder. The field monitor comes with a 1 meter straight cable that is bulky and gets in the way. the coiled cable keeps things neat.
