Canon 50D Digital Camera Review

This is my first digital SLR. I have been watching canon 50D and Nikon D90 for a long time... right now, this price is really attractive. 5 |

I like so many things about this bag! I have room for my Canon 50D, plus an 80-200mm, either on the camera or off plus three other lenses, 2 batteries and a charger, lens cleaning kit etc. I wanted a bag that would fit my camera with a battery grip and my long lens attached. I like the color and softness and the way it doesn't bounce around when I carry it. I had gotten the a little smaller bag first and will use it for short day trips when I know what I will be photographing. The clips are a little troublesome at times but I mostly just use the velcro. I still have some extra room with all the above mentioned articles thrown in...oh, and of course my manual and a field guide. It is easy to get my camera out of this bag in a hurry...all in all I am VERY satisfied with it! I like the fact that it is not black and does not look like a camera bag. 5 |

Updating my previous review of the Rokinon lenses. I did some quick testing of the Rok 50mm cine on a Canon 50D. It's a smaller sensor than the 5D mk3, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like. These images were only lightly edited in Adobe LR 5.7 to correct WB and exposure. I added a little saturation back into the flat picture profile I use for my Canons. I DID NOT add sharpness, noise reduction, clarity or adjust highlights or shadows. The apertures used were mostly from 1.5 to 2.8. I handheld the camera at shutter speeds between 1/30 and 1/60, so they may not be quite as sharp as on a tripod. The ISO was 640 for most of the images. The Canon 50D has more noise than the 5D mark 2/3, but it still looks good, IMO. 5 |

I used the Green Pod with a Canon 50D and their 18-200mm zoom lens. The Green Pod is the prefect size for this camera lens combination. It is well made and easily attaches to the camera. It allows easy stabilization of the camera on nearly all surfaces, especially uneven ones. I used the device when standing up through the sunroof of a 4x4 and while shooting through an open window. I would especially recommend the Pod for safari shooting. 5 |

This is the camera I waited for 15 years for Canon to release to replace my 15MP 50D. It checks all my boxes for resolution, AE, AF, IBIS for stills and video. I bought a second one so I can carry one set-up for wildlife stills and the other for videos quickly. 5 |

THE CANON 50D IS ONE GREAT CAMER EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T HAVE VIDEO. WHICH I REALLY DON'T NEED. I USE THIS CAMERA FOR PORTRAITS AND LANDSCAPE. YOU CAN'T BEAT THE THE WAY THIS CAMERA FUNCTIONS.BETTER BUILT THEN THE 60D. AND WITH THE PRICES FROM B&H YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. 5 |

I have owned my 50D for a little over three months now. With 6 weddings plus engagement shoots and senior pictures under it's belt, I like it better each time. I have never owed a 5D or any other full frame sensor camera, or even used one to compare, so I won't even try. But, I CAN compare my resulting images to those of fellow photographers who ARE shooting with those cameras, and I feel confident putting the results this camera produces up against anything I have seen of theirs. If anything faulters in my images, it is because I lacked skill and not because of the Canon 50D. I do use Canon L Series glass, and I think that is a huge contributor. I have never had focus issues due to low light unless I was testing a lower quality lens. That's not the camera's fault. With good lenses, focus is instant and accurate. Out of focus shots are user error. At 1600 ISO there is a little noise, but not near what I expected and i can recover from that post-edit. This may be the one area a 5d Mark II will show its pro camera colors over the 50D. This camera is a very comfortable fit in my average sized hand. Controls are easy to access and there is only a small learning curve to make operating them natural and second nature. I get approximately 650 RAW images on a 16GB CF card, and if you will be shooting all day like me at events, I recommend taking along an extra fully charged battery. Until I can justify spending 2.5x the price for a 5D Mark II (or whatever takes it's place by then), this camera is fabulous and I would buy it all over again! I will be replacing my wife's camera with a 50D very soon as well! 5 |

Lens is used on a Canon 50D SLR camera and it works great. Lens was purchased to take action photos of kids playing soccer, and the combination of this camera and lens provides extraordinary photos. Lens doesn't do well with close up shots, but thats not what it's made for. Compared to standard 18-70mm lenses, it's a little heavy. 5 |

I use this on my Canon 40D and 50D and it never gets in my way. The build quality seems good and I trust it to catch my camera and lense if knocked out of my hand. I prefer these straps to the neck strap that always gets in the way. 5 |
