Canon Apsc Crop Factor

Well built and sharp. Very happy with this lens. With my my Canon C100 crop factor it gives me a focal length equivalent to a 25mm ... wide, but not distorted. I had to send my first one back because the focus ring was stiff. B&H was quick and great about doing an exchange.

The GH4 is a great little camera but the noise at high ISOs and crop factor (2.3x in 4k?!?!?) were deal breakers. I've shot projects with full frame and crop sensor Canon DSLRs for years but they aren't made for true video production. (Even the low end consumer camcorders have Zebras.) Then Metabones updated their adapter lineup and BOOM! Suddenly the GH4 was starting to look like a viable option. Yes, the adapter is more expensive than others but if you are like me and invested in Canon glass it's worth it. Being able to turn a F4 L lens into a 2.8f with IS is well... it's a thing of beauty. You won't be disappointed.

I love this lens. Currently I use it on a Sony a6500. Because of the crop factor this acts approximately like a 50mm (which is my favorite size- especially for video.) I will be purchasing the a7s III (when it comes out to use with it.) I love that I can change the aperture directly from the lens (which you cannot do from the other less expensive 35mm e-mount that I almost bought.) I can tell you, it is worth the extra money. FYI- I am not against 3rd party lenses-I have bought them before (when I had a Canon 5D MKIII I have the Tamron 24 - 70 because it had stabilization in the lens & Canon did not) but sold all my Canon when I switched to Sony. The bokeh is great and so is the color and clarity.

Best lens I ever had. For my canon 7D (1.6 crop factor), it is equivalent to 24-70 for full frame. Gives perspective for Wide angle.

Great for all around photography. I have a Canon that has a 1.6 crop factor, and this lens therefore acts like a 35mm f2.8. The IS is great to have, especially for video, and I would highly recommend for photo-journalistic style shooting.

I purchased this lens to accompany my Canon 80D (with a 1.6 crop factor) giving me the equivalent of a 16mm real estate lens for video. For interior work, f-stops of 2.8 to 4.5 are definitely needed rather than denigrate the quality with high ISO settings. The quality nearly matches what I get from my Canon 1DXKMII. Very pleased as I can keep this backup on the slider or Ronin M while operating my Canon 1DXMKII on the Ronin S.

I am very impressed with the WCON-P01. I am using it on an E-M10 with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R lens. The WCON-P01 does reduce the sharpness a little, and also reduces the contrast some, but it is actually better than I expected, and I wouldn't hestitate to use it if I needed a wider angle for a particular shot. I tried it vs a Canon EF-S 10-18mm STM lens (set at 14mm) and the WCON-P01 actually looked somewhat sharper (at f8; I didn't try anything else). However, I think that the Oly camera by default is doing more sharpening on jpgs than the Canon camera (SL1), so it is difficult to judge. But the fact that the WCON-P01 was even in the same ballpark means it is quite good. I did notice that the WCON-P01 gives a wider angle than the specified 11mm (22 equivalent with 2x crop factor), because the WCON-P01 gives noticably wider results than the Canon 10-18 set at 14mm (also 22 equivalent, with 1.6 crop factor). So, the WCON-P01 may be giving more like 21mm equivalent (1mm means a lot at these wide settings). Actually, now that I look at the full specs for the WCON-P01, it does say 20.8mm equivalent, so I can confirm this (kind of odd; I though m4/3 had a 2x crop factor). My only complaint is that the WCON-P01 does NOT lock into place on my lens. It goes on very easily and rotates very loosely till it stops after about a quarter of a turn. I didn't try forcing it very hard at that stopping point, because it just didn't feel like it was going to do anything more, and also I have experience with the Oly lenshood for this lens and it locks into place very positively and easily. So I am kind of thinking that the WCON-P01 isn't intended to lock into place, at least on the 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R lens. I do think I'll be worried that it might fall off, and will have to keep an eye on it, especially if I'm turning the zoom on the lens at all, since it would be easy to turn both and have it fall off. Of course, if you are going to zoom in, you should take the WCON-P01 off anyway.

I use this on a Canon T3i. With the T3i's crop factor, the magic lantern software tells me that it is the equivalent of 46mm... essentially making it the closest equivalent to a 50mm lens. Definitely make it one of the primes in your bag.

I use this lens with my infrared modified Canon EOS-M. Given the 1.6x crop factor, this lens is an excellent solution for the wide angle needs of this camera, giving an effective focal length of 25 mm. There are no IR hot spots or image distortion. The 77mm filter size is good with no vignette. For the price this lens is an excellent choice.

When I switched to the Sony a6000 from my old Nikon D40, it was a whole new world. From the sensor quality, to the form-factor and autofocus speed, it felt like a gigantic leap forward. Switching from Sony APSC to this a7c felt much the same. It's quite incredible how small and lightweight this camera is given the sensor and results you get with it. As someone who uses it primarily on hiking and walking around, pairing this camera with Samyang's tony series of lenses has renewed the joy of bring my camera along everywhere I go. As time went on with my APSC setup, I acquired better lenses to improve the low light performance, thus making my setup heavier and bigger and negating the one aspect that I absolutely fell in love with: the size. With the a7c, its low light performance is so good, that I can combine the smaller, slightly slower lenses with its high iso performance to get the results I want, in the form-factor that's convenient for me. If you're debating whether or not the upgrade from sony apsc is worth it, just buy it without hesitation. It's an incredibly versatile, one-of-a-kind camera that has almost no weaknesses. Bonus points if you find one in B&H's used section; that's where I got a good enough deal on mine that allowed me to sell my a6400 and recoup a huge chunk of the cost of my a7c. The condition was basically brand new. Couldn't be happier.
