Canon Cameras Compared

I've been a fan of Canon advanced digitals for a while and finally pulled the trigger on the g-series (G12). It was worth the wait!! These cameras can be used for simple point and shoot if you don't have the time or desire to think much about the mechanics and instead just want to focus on composition. They also have very convenient features for advanced and manual shooting. The focus is very fast and accurate and the menu system is intuitive. The camera is small compared to an SLR but large compared to today's pocket cams. It is sturdy and has a high build quality... should last under rigorous use (metal body, limited use of plastic). The G-series has been around for some time now for a reason: the cameras are excellent!

I use this lens with a Canon 70D and a Rebel T4i 650D. I Like the look of the image obtained. I like the build quality, feels very solid, and like the handling of the adjustment rings. in my opinion it worths its Price. I have a Canon 50mm F1.8, the cheap one, among others, and i have the feeling that this lens brings a little darker image at T1.5 compared to the canon 50mm at F1.8. It feels heavier compared to most of the canon same size lenses.

This is a handy little camera with a powerful zoom lens. We compared it to an old Canon 6D with canon ef 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6l is (first gen) usm lens, and it did better than anticipated! Amazing how far technology has progressed. I bought this for my wife who wants the convenience of a point and shoot camera, but also needs the extra zoom capabilities of a much more expensive set up. She also likes the fact that it is easy to use and lightweight. While it is not a DSLR replacement, it is a great little bridge camera that is ideal to take with you when you are traveling, kayaking, have little to no room for a bulky camera and lens gear, bicycling or simply keeping it in your car and have it handy for a photo opportunity. Also a great gift idea!
