Canon G12 Refurbished Digital Cameras

I have a Nikon digital SLR, but the Canon G12 is what I carry in my purse all the time. I had Canon's Powershot 630A and liked that, too, until it finally gave out. I'd been looking at the G12 and promising myself that if I needed to replace the 630A, I'd buy it, but then I talked myself into buying the more compact s100. After a brief period, I traded it in for the G12. The G12 is one of the larger point-and-shoots but that's mainly because it has two features I love: an optical viewfinder and an articulated monitor. For me, there's no contest. It's well worth the larger size. Furthermore, the controls are beautifully placed and easy to use and the pictures are crisp and clear with beautiful color. The one thing I miss (compared to an SLR) is that in Aperture or Shutter priority modes, you don't see the shutter speed (if you're in Av mode) or the aperture (if you're in Tv mode) that the camera has chosen. I hope Canon can correct that in the next iteration.

Being a photo buff, I received this filter as a fathers day gift and I love using it. My equipment consists of Nikon D700, D300, D90, and a Canon G12. With the Nikon cameras, my routine is to set the cameras to the B&W setting, then set the Mode to Manual, then set it to Bulb and choose an F-stop. With the VR off, mount the camera on a tripod, focus, place the filter on the lens then time the exposure. Using f-stops from f5.6 to f8 in direct sunlight, exposures may run from about 10sec to 20sec. Scenic viewing preferences may be had by varying the exposure time and/or by adjustments in Photoshop. With the Canon G12, go to B&W, hold the filter in front of the lens (or buy the Canon 58mm filter adapter but be aware of possible wide-angle vignetting) point and shoot the scene. With the G12, no tripod is necessary (though recommended)and one can see the scene on the monitor and through the viewfinder but what you see is what you get. I would recommend to anyone who is a photo buff, have this infrared filter in your inventory and learn to use it. I would highly recommend its exploratory use and enjoy the fun capturing rays above the 720nm spectrum.

I use Canon PowerShot G12 for non-professional photos such as family gathering, hiking and out-of-country tours. I tried many different similar cameras, however, it is the best for this purpose. Of course, I use the professional digital cameras and equipments for serious photo works. I hope Canon makes PowerShot camera with much wider-angle lens such as 14-35mm equivalent in 35mmsystem. If any camera manufacturer develops this professional wide-angle compact camera will prosper immediately.

Great for going from tripod to handheld shooting and back again. I use it with both my Canon G12 and 7DII.
