Does an excellent job of powering my Canon HF200 camcorder. 5 |

The Canon HF200 camcorder is an ideal tool for obtaining high quality videos for uploading to your favorite social web site, e.g., YouTube, etc. I purchased this camcorder after considerable research and am not disappointed with this product. 5 |

I finally upgraded to HD from Canon Optura SD. The transition to HF200 was great. The controls, connections and menu system on HF200 are similar to past Canon models so I had no trouble switching over. In particular the menu is intuitive and very easy to navigate. I shoot a lot of wildlife on travel and really like the HF200 compact size. I need to juggle my binoculars and camcorder often so am glad I can stow the camera into a jacket pocket or small pack easily. Took it to San Ignacio Lagoon for whale watching trip and very happy with the shots I got. The screen was bright enough to be useful even in sunny situations (and you can adjust it even brighter if you need) and the image stabilization came in handy out on the boat. I thought I'd miss the viewfinder but not so far - have always preferred using the screen anyway. One feature I really liked is the Pre-Recording mode. In this mode the camera grabs the previous 3 seconds of video when you press record. It burns the battery a bit faster but helps get action shots of unpredictable animal behavior. Also like the 15x optical zoom (I never use the digital zoom) and battery life way better than Optura. Pleasantly surprised at low light performance. Still a --little-- grainy but WAY better than Optura also. Got home and looked at the clips - HD looks so good. Since this is my first HD, it's hard to compare against other HD but I've always been pleased with Canon optics. All in all, I think this camera is great value. If you want a great compact HD camcorder you can take anywhere, consider the HF200. Don't waste your money on internal memory (HF20), get an extra SDHC card instead. 5 |

I was anxious about purchasing a camcorder for work as I am new to the video world. I am quite pleased with the Vixia HF200 Flash Memory Camcorder. It is easy to use and the quality of the image is great. One of the reasons I was apprehensive is that I wasn't sure it it would work well with Final Cut Express but after a bit of reading I was able to use the log and transfer feature to upload my files and work on them with no problem. The exported videos look fabulous! One thing though- if you want to use an external microphone don't forget to get a shoe adapter because it won't work without it. 5 |

My HF200 works very well. Its very light, very compact, pretty easy to use, and takes great video under normal light conditions. I'm more point-and-shoot, so I haven't experimented with different settings for light, but under low-light or lamp-light, the color is a little grainy. Another possible issue is the battery life. I can record about 80 minutes before it is dead. That's good enough for me as I don't shoot a lot of video and my 15GB memory card can only hold about that many minutes. The only thing that really bothers me is that even with no zoom, I need to be at least a few feet away to capture my baby's head in the video. It almost seems like there is some zoom when I pull the zoom all the way back. Overall, I thought this was a great camcorder and a great value. I plug the camcorder into my 53 Samsung LCD and the picture is as clear as a professional photo. Very life-like. 5 |

I purchased a Canon Vixia HF200 a couple of months ago, and really wished it had a viewfinder. Well, I had a Hoodman Loupe...one day while shooting I tried to hold it over the LCD screen, and wo-ho, I had a view finder. Now if I could only attach it to the finder screen...hmmmm. I checked the B&H website for something similar that might work. Low and behold there was the Cinema Strap. Ordered one right away and now have a great eye level viewfinder. 5 |

I've used the Canon HF200 as a substitute camera to shoot sports commentary from my home office. This was done to give the broadcasts a slightly more Vlog and personal touch. I truly had to dumb down the camera and editing as the image and controls were so good. Using this camera with flash cards isn't new for us as we use the P2 Panasonic's in studio, but to use it in a camcorder that weighs less than a pound and gives the shooter this much control is astonishing to me. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who want's to have ease of use and manual control as well as the fit and finish of the product. We are now rethinking the purchase of the high-end studio camera's to use for our broadcast's as the new generation of video camera's has brought the quality up and the cost down. 5 |
