Canon Or Sony Camera

I have been a fan of the 1 inch cameras. I am a serious amateur, but need a camera for the pocket, so most DSLR or even mirorless are out for me. I have owned the SONY rx 100 series. That is an incredible travel camera, even better then this canon in some ways. But to me, I do not need the larger zoom on the SOny. The canon combination of 1 inch sensor with the F 1.8 lens and image stabilization, can rival APS-C sensors in lower light and certainly in daylight. image quality is amazing, excellent feel and control, fantastic touch screen function. the camera also feels more substantial the Lumix or even the SOny. If you strictly want a travel camera with a bigger zoom, go with the SONY, but if you want an overall day to day camera as a sort of SLR substitute that fits in the pocket. this is the winner. overall, I think Canon really hit a home run with this camera, if used for the right purpose.

Switched to Sony from canon then back to canon. The menu and picture quality is next to none. Love this camera.

This charger is much better than the previous one (also not Canon) and is it's easy to recharge Sony batteries for camera.

First off - don’t believe the L Mount junk everyone is saying. There is a large offering of lenses releasing soon and the F4 24-105 is so incredible it could come glued to the camera and I doubt I’d care! Additionally, I have the sigma EF adapter and use a Canon 50mm 1.4 and a Canon 70-200 2.8 and they look insanely good as well on this camera. Second - I came from GH5 AND Sony A9 AND Sony A7iii... this camera replaced ALL THREE off those cameras with flying colors even before the Vlog upgrade that’s about to drop! User Interface - Nothing beats Lumix! Color Science - Very good. Low Light - Beats even the Sony’s Focus - Photos, completely useable... not quite as fast or accurate as Sony A9 but very very close. Video, No less reliable than the Sony. Meaning that even on both cameras you’re going to have to watch these cameras depending on what you’re filming and make sure they nailed it. I struggle no less with this than with the Sony.

After lugging around my Canon 7D II with 400mm zoom on a recent trip to Utah, decided I was at the age to find a much lighter quality camera to schlep around for "nice vacation shots". After much reading boiled down between Canon G7X II and the "everyone loves" the Sony RX 100. So why did I choose the Canon? 1. Price 2. Quality of STILL pictures (Sony has advantage on video...but I didn't buy it for video and Canon still had solid reviews...just no 4K), 3. Flexibility - Canons menus "User Friendly" and logical 4. Build - Canon just "felt" better in my hand. Of course, proof is in the pudding...just got back from a cruise...pictures were BEAUTIFUL, CRISP...no viewfinder takes some getting used too, BUT moveable screen helps frame shots at low and high angles effortlessly. AF quick in all lighting situations...zoom is better than anticipated...all-in-all a great little camera that produced better than "nice vacation shots" to some incredible shots...period!

I dont have or use any Canon batteries (life long Nikon man...working with only v-mount or Anton Bauer p-tap accessories...and this is perfect. The coil keeps it tidy without having to make little loops that you tie or Velcro to the camera. It's long enough for both large and small camera builds. I use it for my smallHD 702. I have a similar cable for the Sony batteries, but it's nice to have a backup/spare (since the 702 accepts both Sony and Canon batteries).

I use it to mount my Sigma Art lenses as well as my Canon EF on a Sony a7R2. It works wonder (all my Canon work flawlessly) but there are a few Sony features not available while using non-native lenses on the camera. I mount these Canon lenses successfully: EF 85 1.2L2, EF 50 1.4, EF 100 2.0, EF 24 2.8, EF 20 2.8. Rarely, but it happens, the AF isn't gripping on anything (after switching lenses) but either turning camera on/off, or unmounting/remounting the lens fixes it immediately. SIgma does not recommend mounting Canon lenses with it but you can ignore this. I am very happy with it, it looks sleek too, and has a USB plug to update firmware (when using Sigma lenses.)
