We bought this camera as a short term replacement for a s70 that died. We assumed that since it was a lower priced model it would not be very good. I was soo wrong! My wife had spotted a giant spider in the basement that she wanted killed and Identified. Being the good husband I sprayed the bug and waited for it too kick the bucket. While looking at it I thought it was the deadly Brown Recluse. Only one way to find out. After I was sure it was dead I got out our new 12 megapixel PowerShot a3100 I used the simple flower mode to take a couple of pictures to compare it to what was on the Internet. It turns out that the PowerShot A3100 picked out a critical hidden detail, the position of the spiders eyes. The only absolute way to make sure what we had in the basement was not dangerous was a detail that only the PowerShot A3100 could see. So I would recommend this camera just on the basis of it being able to pick out the eyes of the spider not to mention it's nice for factor, auto face recognition, image stabilization, price and great battery life. 5 |
