Canon Vixia Mini Vlogging Camera

Bought this for my Canon Vixia HF G10 video camera, which has a mini shoe at the very back. I need to mount an Azden dual channel wireless receiver and a SunPak LED light. The hot shoe extension is 8 in. long and rotates and slides fore and aft for easy adjustment. I use it with a Pearstone mini shoe adapter. To prevent the whole unit from being front-heavy when loaded, I attached a small wooden leg that rests upon the camera top and it affixed with a bit of velcro to keep it from sliding. Works great. (as an alternative, I might look at the Opteka X-Grip (B&H # OPXGRIPBK) along with this extension. Made of strong plastic, so it's very light, but solid.

Canon VIXIA HF200 got a mini shoe and Azden SMX-10 got a standard foot, they don't match. I used sand paper to reshaped the foot, now it can fit in (NOT fully, but it works:-). When I put the mic on, it's hard to zoom in and out, and the camera button is blocked(I don't use this button when I use mic anyway)

I recently bought the Canon 32GB VIXIA HF G20 Full HD Camcorder and wanted an external mic. This is a GREAT first mic for the money, The one down fall was you also needed to by a shoe adaptor as the camera had the mini shoe. I found the adaptor to be okay but it put the mic up another 1 1/2 inches and a little unstable. NOTE: I do not recommend anyone else doing this but I got around this issue by using a dremel tool to cut down the full size mic shoe to fit the mini shoe, and now it is ROCK solid ! All in all it was a good buy.

Had the Canon Vixia HF200 for about 3 weeks now and it works perfectly! Only thing I wish is that the UV and other filters fit inside the fixed camera lens cap. When you buy a UV filter to protect the lens (and you SHOULD), you also need to buy a les cap to cover it. They are cheap but not something you find at ... so order it from B&H when you order the UV. Otherwise the camera is Brilliant... Not needing tapes any more makes it all worthwhile... and the HD is very impressive! Also, buy a spare battery... you will be happy you did. The LCD is very bright at clear so you will love that!
