Works great with my canon mini dv camera

I own a Canon xl2 and gl2 and just picked up one a canon hf s10 and want to say that the video quality is amazing for such a small camera and should be considered a prosumer camera. I am still getting used to its weight, it almost feels like nothing in my hands being used to heavier cameras. This is not for live video feeds without purchasing expensive hardware as the cpu recognizes it only as a memory device. Aftermarket batteries and lenses are fairly inexpensive compared to oem products. If recording in 24p make sure your software will import correctly. The internal stabilization feature kinda makes the software stabilization look weird. So use only one, either software or built in camera. Do your homework on this product if using for pro work

I use this battery in Canon XF200 and XL2 video cameras. THank you Canon, for having the courtesy (and care for your customers) to keep a perfectly good battery design usable for products that were released 20 years apart. When I purchased the newer XF200, I assumed my 8 batteries (not cheap at all) would become toxic land fill or paper weights. What a thrill to find out I would not have to spend another $1000 on back up batteries! The new(er) battery meter/gauge feature is pretty cool too. It saves a few seconds having to install a battery to see how much juice it has in it. Canon, thanks for not being f**ked up!

I use the SDI input from Sony DVCAM deck for video archiving DV and Mini-DV along with Black Magic Express capture software. Video is excellent for my purposes. Have not tried the HDMI input yet but will be using that input to archive DVD video in near future..

Fantastic value compared to the Canon cable that costs $15 for the exact same thing. I'm using it to convert Mini DV tapes from a Canon ZR800 camcorder from circa 2006 and it's capturing the audio and video into a Elgato Video capture device without any issues.

I have made no budget shorts for years using a Mini-Dv camera and a $20 tripod. Recently, i purchased a JVC Gr-HD1, and found a need for a better tripod. This really makes your shots look like they are floating on a cloud. Using a fluid head tripod is a must if you want a professional look, especially on Prosumer cameras. Even though i have never used a fluid head tripod to compare, i would highly recommend this one. Its well worth the money, especially since they offer the carry bag, and the dolly, which is built very well. The only problem I had with this is the placement with some of the knobs. The knob used to tighten the quick release plate cannot turn when you adjust the pan handles. The tripod is a good solid weight. Not too heavy or light.
