The Item is awesome when I tried on my D7100. I upgrade from IR to Wireless remote. I found it responsive when I press the transmitter half way and full press.

Works great, a dream come true.  Real wireless control of flash.  Nikon IR is NOT WIRELESS.  Remote, YES, but by standard definition, NOT WIRELESS.  Wireless by ENGLISH definition is radio waves, not IR.

Just received this shutter release transmitter for my D40. Primarily wanted to begin including myself in group and family photos . . without rushing from behind the camera to join in. I read previous reviews and found them helpful, although for the cost involved how can you go wrong. When the transmitter arrived with another purchased item, I was impressed with it's compactness. It's hard to spot in the picture if you hold it discretely. Also, I tested it repeatedly for distance and found that 30-60 feet away (granted perfect conditions) I was still getting shutter release everytime. YES, I imagine it takes a very fresh battery to get this performance. ALSO, and very importantly to me, I DO get BEHIND THE CAMERA shutter release, but NOT always. Seems that indoors with furniture, walls and floors in close proximity, it's more do'able. Outside, depending on reflective surfaces infront of the lens, I often, but not always, get shutter release. Shooting off into a distant landscape, the success is more infrequent. Likely the IR beam is not reflecting back at the camera's anteriorly positioned IR sensor in the outdoors as it does inside. It seems very do'able to get shutter release by simply holding the transmitter over the camera body and focusing it downward. Techically, I'm behind the camera, I suppose. I accomplish what I'm looking for, more low light t shots on tripod. So far, good test shots of the Moon, sunrise, sunsets, etc, doing this. I'm VERY satisfied with this product for my needs. At the price, will probably buy another to have as a spare. Included carrying case a nice touch. . It very securely attaches to my camera strap. Transmitter is always close by that way.

Using an IR receiver without a vertical adjustment often created a problem in positioning the transmitter! Solves the problem very nicely.
