Cardiod Wireless Microphone

2024-08-18 07:48:38

This microphone picks up almost any sound you can throw at it in an environment. It does have a cardiod pickup pattern so sounds behind it aren't going to be very noticeable, but any sound within its pattern is extremely clear and well defined, and the patttern even though it's cardiod is still somewhat wide. If you need something within an extremely directional pickup you might want to get a mic with a super cardiod pattern, but otherwise this mic is a fantastic piece of equipment.

I bought this microphone as a replacement to the Sennheiser ME2 Omni Lavalier Wireless Microphone System and I have to say, it is amazing quality. I can't even tell the difference between the manufactured Sennhesier and this Pearstone. I use this microphone in corporate studio shoots, in house astrology horoscope shoots, and for weddings. Highly impressed with the sound this lavalier produces for its price.

I have a RØDE Wireless Go (wireless microphone) that I use with my iPhone, iPad, DJI Osmo Pocket, and Nikon Z6 camera. As versatile as it is, I also wanted to be able to use it with my RØDECaster Pro and my Zoom H6, both of which have XLR jacks to record individual audio tracks. That’s where this RØDE VXLR+ comes in — it just allows me to connect a mic with a TRS jack to an XLR input. It’s basic, and it works. RØDE makes great products, including this one.

Build quality like you would expect from Rode, a definite directional mic that rejects noise from the sides and the rear of the mic boom. Designed for TRRS jack on Android or iOS devices. You do need to use an App that understands it had input options, the switching to an external source is not automatically supported by the default apps, favors the internal mic of the device.. ignores the external. Plus is while it draws power from the Phone its already matched to whats available, no ground hum or other impedence problems. It is analog, but metal barrel around microphone shields it from RF interference. This is a cardiod, not Super cardiod for pulling in long distance sources but is as good as you could hope for from a non-boom mounted camera mic. It makes a distinct difference which you can see in a recording wave form or track display in an editor. Sensitivity is about 20 dBm greater than my Rode Podcaster which is already fantastic, but intended for close up voice recording at the end of the Podcaster screen. So yes it is a mini-shotgun mic. The dead cat wind fob/wind screen that comes with it reminds me of a Tribble from Star Trek.. but appropriately inanimate. Its certainly better and less intrusive than an NTG2 with a long reach boom in front of a subject.. but gets the job done and conveniently fits in your camera bag, without power source, amp and mixer.
