After videotaping fireworks for winter carnival I left the plate attached to my camera after packing the tripod away.On the walk back to the truck it fell off.I purchased 2 of these so I had a spare and I must say they came quickly and fit perfect. Great replacement to the original.

Planning to use this in a bingo tent at a carnival. Seems like it has plenty of sound for that. It looks like it cost more than it actually did, so that's a plus!

The strap is installed in my Pelican1490 case housing a macbook pro. The instructions coming with the strap are great... however the 1490 comes with waterproof rubber grommets inserted where the strap holes are on the side of the case. They are very snug and not very visible at first. You must push them out from the inside of the case with a screwdriver to remove each one out to clear the hole to be able to attach the waterproof strap hooking device. The instructions to do all this are absent with the case and with the strap. It's left up up to you to figure this out...Nevertheless, it's easy, and fast, installing the strap.

It is an awesome film for night shots, for some metro station experience or to capture the local carnival with flashy lights. But you should know upfront that whatever you capture, you have to shoot at least once a gas station. It is mandatory, it even comes on the box. If you don't do it, you won't have used at its 100% this film. And cinestill makers might get mad at you.

I first worked with Metz flashes in 1997 when I started working for Carnival Cruise Lines' Photo Department. The CT-4 and CT-5 were both very impressive flashes, however the 76 MZ-5 was the most impressive flash I have ever worked with. Our 21 ships were retrofitted with them back in 2006 and it is now the flash of my dreams! Consistant output, Ease of use, Fast and rugged. They stand up to abuse and remain reliable. The 400 Photographers in the Carnival Cruise Line Fleet, use them every day in one of the fastest paced environments ever!

I purchased the Optech Rainsleeve for a shoot during Carnival in Ecuador. It's a tradition there to throw water and spray foam at passersby during the holiday--especially gringos flashing a D40x/18-200 VR/SB-600. The Optech rainsleeve was a cheap and easy way to keep the festivities in the lens and my machine out of the shop. There's a built-in hole to fit around the eyepiece and the open-end was sufficient for my hand(s). You have to dismount the lens, insert it into the sleeve separate from the body, and reassemble the unit once it's in. Not a big deal, but you have to plan ahead. The drawstrings around the lens keep the glass exposed, and limit your ability to fine-tune if manual focus is what you seek, but otherwise shooting, even at great distances, is uninhibited. For the record, the Optech Rainsleeve is NOT waterproof (nor does it claim to be). However, it's a great, cheap way, to keep basic-to-intense grime, grit, sand, and the occasional celebratory water balloon out of your shoot. A lack of holes for my strap left me wanting, but other than that, the ergonomics/fit was solid. Today, I write this having returned to the Northern Hemisphere with a clean camera thanks to Otech sleeves.

The EV did not disappoint on its first use at the London Notting Hill Carnival launch. I was commissioned to produce three short clips for webcast and a 40 minute film of the event. The EV was used for interviewing VIPs and distinguished guests. Linked to a Shure FP33 audio capture was pristine despite my 15 year old son at the controls. No echo or handling noise inside and certainly no wind noise outside. I didn't even use a windshield! The presenter I used kept waving the mic around initially due to nervousness (or did she lie to me about not being camera shy)? Not a single pop. There were no reflections in the video footage due to the matt black finish which gave it a quality look too. First impressions - excellent sound capture with quality you can feel. I look forward to the journalistic and documentary use I purchased it for.
