Cello Midi Instrument

I originally bought this to mic a cello as the available pickups were unsatisfactory. After a makeshift adaptation of the instrument clip we were getting a nice, rich, warm, full tone right away without even touching the EQ. We've been using this for frequent gigs--weddings, parties etc.--for about 4 or 5 years now and it's still working perfectly. This unit has served us so well at such a great price, I just bought 3 more from B&H to mic the string section of the jazz orchestra.

I bought this stand for my Luis & Clark carbon fiber cello. It is extremely well made, yet small and thus easy to carry when folded up. While it holds a regular cello well - a student uses it - it also fits my instrument well. The silicone rubber coating is thick and protects the instrument while providing plenty of friction to hold the instrument in place. Of course, the width can be adjusted to fit other instruments. I am very picky and couldn't be happier with this purchase. Additionally the price is incredible for the value you are getting. Last point: some stands come with a bow holder, but thus are not very portable. I have never had trouble finding space to hang or place a bow.

The previous review was the only negative one I've seen on the web, and it seems misinformed. The product is not advertised as needing or having a driver on cd. It worked right away with no extra work, creating its own MIDI setup on my computer. BUT, (1) you have to pay attention to the MIDI connector colors (plug the red one into your instrument's MIDI OUT port), AND (2) do some MIDI setup on your instrument (e.g. local control=OFF for playback). Finally, (3) it's not an audio cable, it's a midi cable, so understand the difference. It carries MIDI signals for music software, not sound for recording.

These are a great softener for the cello and should come standard with each.

A good Midi interface device to connect the keyboard with the PC through MIDI ports and use Midi apps.

This little Midi Box is a welcome addition to my Midi Configuration Studio needs. This is a deceptive little synth, it is not a toy and can be used in a Musicians rig, but it's main short coming is the touch keyboard, so if you got a Midi keyboard, use it (Note: you will need a Type A 1/8 Midi adapter cable to utilize the midi capability) the Korg software is pretty good to access the deeper functions, but the sound is the big deal here, it sounds beefy & the built in effects are top notch, and with full midi support you will be using this with your DAW, drum machines etc. it is fun and easy to put together, really worth the price.
