Cello Software Instrument

I originally bought this to mic a cello as the available pickups were unsatisfactory. After a makeshift adaptation of the instrument clip we were getting a nice, rich, warm, full tone right away without even touching the EQ. We've been using this for frequent gigs--weddings, parties etc.--for about 4 or 5 years now and it's still working perfectly. This unit has served us so well at such a great price, I just bought 3 more from B&H to mic the string section of the jazz orchestra. 5 |

I bought this stand for my Luis & Clark carbon fiber cello. It is extremely well made, yet small and thus easy to carry when folded up. While it holds a regular cello well - a student uses it - it also fits my instrument well. The silicone rubber coating is thick and protects the instrument while providing plenty of friction to hold the instrument in place. Of course, the width can be adjusted to fit other instruments. I am very picky and couldn't be happier with this purchase. Additionally the price is incredible for the value you are getting. Last point: some stands come with a bow holder, but thus are not very portable. I have never had trouble finding space to hang or place a bow. 5 |

I'm gonna put it to you straight: I love this thing.Great things about it? Multiple fingering modes, two banks, rechargeable, wireless with ridiculously low latency (even when battery gets low) and a sound editor software that delivers. Having higher quality sounds compared to EWI4000s is great and being able to layer or octave those sounds without being hooked up to a computer is great for random creativity. For starters, it has a good sound that is actually adaptive to your style of play. I went through the whole of the sound bank and was pleased as I believe it's a true update. There will be uninformed haters out there that will say the sounds are not realistic or sound kazoo-like after listing to samples through a YouTube video, but what they're failing to realize is that it is an EWI, not a reed instrument; and, YouTube sound quality considering the source material and player isn't always that great. The EWI accomplishes everything it set out to and does not misrepresent what it can do in its instruction manual or marketing. I find that if I do a forceful brass hit or a strong blow using the saxophone sounds that there is a distinct difference in how the sound is presented and how it is carried. I find this ability built into the vast majority of sounds I use. These are the great things about the instrument.Areas in need of improvement? Let's see.. some thought that having a wireless MIDI ability would be useful, but honestly, I don't find this that important. Use a cord or acquire a wireless setup that you trust and believe in. Being able to load your own sounds? Get an iPad or a computer, VST library and software and use a cord. Again, I don't find this to be a hang-up. I owned the EWI4000s and did just fine with cords. I did fine then and I'll do fine now.All in all a great buy. Highly recommended. Highly responsive. Highly customizable. And a highly prized member of my instrument collection. 5 |

I'm extremely impressed with basically everything about this drum machine. To start with, the hardware is impeccable. Made in Sweden, *extremely* robust-feeling (heavy metal construction), excellent QC. All buttons feel good, pad sensitivity is very good. The physical design is excellent. The firmware is also quite excellent. I have experienced zero bugs of any kind, and the UI/UX design integration between the firmware and the physical controls is really good. They've clearly put a huge amount of thought into how people are going to use this. One downside is that you do have to go out and learn Elektron's data model (what is a song vs a pattern vs a track vs...), but there are a number of good youtube videos explaining this clearly. A big surprise - the desktop software is actually really good! I'm used to musical instrument vendor software being absolute garbage, and I would normally never e.g. install a kernel extension from a musical instrument developer. However, Elektron seems to have some really competent software people! Overbridge engine works quite well, and lets you do really cool stuff, like record each of the 8 tracks *individually* into your DAW using just a USB cable. When I compare this to a certain other well-known Swedish instrument manufacturer (who doesn't actually make their instruments in Sweden...), this device comes out ahead in every single metric. So glad I got this! 5 |
