My new Celestron 8 EdgeHD scope with German EQ mount (CEAVX8EHD) came with only a cord for a cigarette lighter to power it. After a lot of research, I settled upon Celestron's Lithium LT PowerTank, and it's everything I'd hoped for! It's light, compact, easy to use, and gives many hours of usage per charge. So far, I've done two four-hour sessions, and it's still showing 75% charge. It supplies 3 amps at 12 volts, giving my eq mount all the juice it needs, and its advanced lithium battery technology beats lead-acid hands down. Can't wait to take the package out for some dark sky viewing! Strapping it solidly on the tripod leg is tricky, but can be done. The instructions were vague, so take some time to experiment on the best way to lace the strap through the buckle to attach the velcro tightly. 5 |

My previous surge cord was an APC. I have had it for years and still use it. It didn't have USB, and with some new electronics I have purchased that only come with a USB cord to charge them, I upgraded to this surge cord. It works great as expected. I use it to charge my GoPro and headlamp. I could use it to charge my phone, but I do have an adapter with prongs on it so I don't technically need USB ports for that, but it would for sure work if I wanted to just charge it via USB. I like the square end so it's easier to pull out of an outlet that my previous surge cord that was an oval shape at that end. I purchased in white. My previous surge cord was black, and this one is much easier to see when plugging something in when not in a super well lit room. 5 |
