This is a typical Apple dongle which does what it’s supposed to, namely connect my Apple optical drive to my new MacBook Pro. As is everything made by Apple, cheaper adapters can be had, more so now that USB C is becoming increasingly common in non-Apple brand equipment. 5 |

I just purchased a 2018 Macbook Pro and wanted an external hard drive for its Time Machine software. Came formatted for the Mac and worked without any drama or issues. The drive is boxes with a rather short USB type-C cable and a USB type-A dongle. C-cable fits tightly for a good connection. Ive used the dongle for some older Window devices without issue. I'm using this with a MacBook Pro (15-inch 2017) running macOS 10.15.7. I replaced a USB hub dongle, a DisplayPort hub dongle, and a charging cable with a single ThunderBolt 3 cable to this dock. MUCH easier to pack up my laptop when I need to go, and re-connect my laptop when I come home. 5 |
