Cheap Computer Shop

I have a 4th Gen i5 unit that's a kind of a, "Shop," computer, used to look up machine shop specs & plans, order parts & tooling, keep track of customer data, job status, etc. It's nice to have the machine in the shop, rather than have to run into the office every time; I waste a lot of time if I have to run back & forth. The SSD has made the, "Shop," computer quite a lot faster.

I always shop from this brand for its cheap and works really well. These negative sleeves fit perfectly in my binder and they hold up well.

I'm using this in one of those cheap clamp-on shop lights to bounce off the ceiling and diffuse the light around my darkroom. It's a very good value in dollars-per-watt, and much brighter than a 15 watt safelight for a similar cost.

Works great and very cheap. Great to keep prints separated while stacked in my shop or for covering the print for shipping. I also have Archival Methods tissue paper in 4 sizes.

This teleprompter was great. It's cheap, small, and works with an iPad so everything is really easy. If you're a one-man shop on a budget, you can't go wrong with this one for your client interviews.

I bought a cheap $35 adapter from another shop and it almost broke my camera mount as it would not come off. Was way too tight. I finally managed to get it loose and immediately spent the bucks on this adapter. I use it on my Panasonic S1 for M mount lenses. No need for the Leica branded one that costs more as the S1 does not read the Leica M 6 Bit Code. This is all you need, and its the best I have seen when it comes to adapters. Flawless.

I have stacks of VHS videos from the mid-1980s and I wanted to digitize them before the tapes degraded and couldn't be played. I took several to a local shop to have transferred ro DVD and it cost a lot of money -- about $80.00 for two DVDs. The shop owner said that it cost so much because the project tied up his expensive machine and he had to keep on eye them. I researched how to do the transfer myself and I saw good reviews on the Elgato System and hoped It would work for me. I am not a techno geek but can learn new applications (66 year old). I ordered the product and when I got the directions, it looked too easy. I called Elgato to be sureI understood that I simply had to connect my VCR to my computer (MacBook Pro) directly; it did not need to be connected to the TV at all. I downloaded the software and the screen directions are very clear. FYI. The video streaming from the VHS player shows up on the computer screen and can be cropped if necessary. At the end, I open iMovie and then burn DVDs with iDVD. Eventually, I will save to an external drive. I am very pleased with this product and the quality is excellent. I did find that I had the clean the heads on the VCR if the tapes seemed messy. I found several helpful You Tube clips on how to take off the cover of a VCR and clean the heads with alcohol and q-tips.
