I understand SmallHD monitors are not cheap and that filmmaking, in general, is already expensive enough to justify dropping $1500 on a monitor. That being said, the alternative is more expensive in the long run. I originally bought an Atomos Shinobi because of the above reasons, but after terrible experiences with Atomos products, I decided to try SmallHD—and I was blown away by its ease of use and quality. This monitor offers so many customizable options compared to its competitors that it's difficult to even begin to list them. I've never missed focus using it. Even in low light or super bright conditions, this monitor delivers. Tools are supposed to solve problems, not create more problems that need to be solved. This is an excellent tool for your filmmaking kit.

If you're on the market for a cheap-ish shot mic for journalism, YouTube, or some smaller scale filmmaking, this is your best option. Just don't go cheaper than this, you will be sorry.

I love these lights! Needed something quick for professional yet gorilla filmmaking and these did the trick! You can dim them causing you not too much after set up. They're awesome!

I've been in filmmaking for over 10 years from making professional music videos, documentaries, and even features, and rarely have I come across the level of quality this camera provides. As a colorist, the color science is absolutely astounding. I have it paired with a variety of lenses from Nikon, to EOS, Meike, and Zeiss, and with each lens, the delivery of quality is again, flawless. It does have a few quirks, as one would expect from such a low price point. ISOs between 400-1250 are absolutely garbage. Especially in low light. This won't be a problem if you have a 4GB+ Graphics Card in your editing machine, but anything lower, and you're going to want to avoid those ranges. I don't understand the plastic-y feel everyone says it has. Sure it's not a full-metal body, but it sure is sturdy. I recommend this camera to anyone looking to step up their filmmaking game from a standard Mirrorless or DSLR. It will have a 1.9x crop factor, so be ready for that with your glass arsenal. Overall, 5-Stars for sure.
