Cisco Router No Internet Access On Vlan

I needed internet access in an old building next to my house. It is too far away from my house to be supported by my wireless router. However, it does share electrical wiring with my house. Running new Cat5 cables was not a good solutions for a variety of reasons so I decided to try TP-Link's AV100 Gigabit Powerline Starter kit. The setup was very easy, basically plug and play. The price was very affordable. While not as fast as a direct connection, it still meets my needs. 5 |

If you’re like me and live off grid and cellular is your only means to access the internet this device is amazing. It works just like my old router when I lived in the city and had internet. 5 |

I was looking for an Omada router that supported 2gb internet speeds. This product does the trick! No issues upgrading from the 605 router. Internet has been solid at 2gb. 5 |

I wanted to set up a dedicated vlan for my "internet of things" (hue lights, smart thing, google home, roku, etc) so they would just have access to the net to download updates, searches, etc, but not have access to everything else (NAS, other computers, etc). That required both a wireless network and dedicated ports to be associated with the VLAN. While I had done this with a couple consumer routers (flashed w/ tomato and merlin), I didn't like the disjointed setup, administration, etc. Bought into the ubiquiti unifi ecosystem and love it. Powering my access points by just connecting an ethernet cord makes setting this up trivial. Went for the 16 port switch (rather than the 8 port) because it seemed the sweet spot for price vs expansion. It also provides greater flexibility in number of devices and poe requirements (poe+ vs just poe) when compares to say the 8 port w/ 60w. Setup with the switch (in unifi console) was trivial. Assigning ports to a specific VLAN was as simple as selecting an option in a drop down. Powering my access points was simply plug and play. The USG was more of a pain to set up due to it defaulting to the 192.168.1 network, but worked around that with some fiddling. I wish the switch better supported a wall mount option out of the box. The included brackets only work for rack mounting as they'd stick out beyond the switch if rotated in any other direction. Could work if you don't mind the switch sticking out a little from the wall rather than sitting flush. 5 |

Capable enough for a complex home network. With a VLAN capable router this switch serves as the root of other managed and unmanaged switches and direct drops. Separates Core, Guest, and IoT VLANs with space left over 5 |
