This stand has been great for location classical recording. I previously used a shorter manfrotto stand with extender to get high enough, but was always worried about how light the stand was. The size and weight prevents any tipping or moving, great for when there is going to be movement around the stand.

I am a classical trumpeter and former member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The BSO currently uses the Sennheiser 8040 for recording the brass section and the were recommended by a friend who is one of the recording engineers for the orchestra so I tried a pair. For my purpose in my space and set up in the ORTF configuration they give me the most accurate clean sound of any mics I have tested and are perfect for my purpose.

(Verified Purchase) I use these for classical recordings as a backup and they sound pretty good. Pretty good = 5 stars because of the value. Thanks to the recording revolution, mics like these are ridiculously cheap. I've used a bunch of mid-budget and high-end SDCs and these make good backups. I've used them in rough or dangerous recording situations when I didn't want to risk the expensive mics. Play around with the different caps--super useful.

I am involved in recording classical and semi classical music and this light stand allowed us to get microphones up to 12 ft above the performance area. The unit cann hold one mic or two on a spreader bar but is easily trasportable from venue to another. Weight bags are critical as the mics are worth many times what the stand is!

I got into the Triad-Orbit stands a couple years ago. I do on-location recording of classical mainly. Recently I discovered that it is possible to double these up, giving me a nearly 13' height, and the base is solid enough to keep it stable.

I'm a professional classical guitarist and these mics (like the other km 184 mics I have used) are top quality with excellent sound reproduction. As classical guitarists will tell you, recording a good classical guitar sound is difficult. These mics are an important part of the recording chain (the others being excellent cables, good preamps and ad da converters).

I'm a classical recording engineer and I recently had to fly across the country to record an album. I didn't have a lot of packing space as I was flying so I needed to keep a small footprint. The CAT tails were perfect for the application, I will be using them a lot in the future.
