Clear Backpacks Controversy

I know there is some controversy regarding whether putting a clear filter on a lens will affect the lens clarity. To me, it's a no-brainer to protect any new lens that I purchase as it's far easier to replace a scratched clear filter than to permanently mar the lens glass leading to a costly repair or worse. Nikon has had a very good reputation for quality optics for around 70 years. So, paying a bit more for the Nikon name is less important to me than to risk putting an inferior 3rd party lens on a nice lens and affecting the optics with distortion or lack of sharpness.

Great way to keep your lenses clean at home or in the field. I keep a handful of packets in my backpacks so I can ensure the lenses are clear of dust, dirt, and sea salt at all times. Dries quickly after application.

I'm a member of the protect your lens with a filter camp. I know there controversy in some corners about this, but I have always been of the persuasion that replacing a damaged filter is better than replacing a damaged lens. These are great. I can see no image degradation and they do not scratch easily. Will buy this again with I buy a new lens, no doubt.

I bought this not too long ago and did not yet have too many chances to use this in the field. But I wanted to comment on the fit as it seems to cause some controversy. So, FWIW - the fit with a Markins Q3 Traveler head which I own (outstanding product, BTW) is excellent. It is not loose - but it is also not so tight as to require excessive attention to positioning the tripod/head in the bag just so. I would say it fits like a glove, and I think it is a good thing.

Given all the controversy behind this lens, it really stands out. It's unique in its rendering and gives you a special look. It is a great noct replacement and might be a legend in itself.

There's a controversy about whether filters protect lenses, but my experience is that they do. Given that, I'll try this out and see if it is better.I replaced 67mm and 72mm B&W's with these Sigmas and saved 1 Ounce/28 Grams. Not much, but for those backpackers who cut off toothbrushes, it all adds up.How these filters handle Pacific storms and salt spray will be the reals test.

I've been looking at backpacks for 6 months and never seem to find the best one for my needs but this one is it!

Honestly this is a really expensive camera bag. I have use at least 5-6 different backpacks and this is the best one so far!

These backpacks look very sharp, can't wait for our staff to use them.

It is a good accessory to complement backpacks. Recommended!
