The H2N and me are close to a perfect storm. I am a performer/songwriter with 40 years of music experience. I also have 25 years experience in multitrack recording. What I needed was a high quality, easy to use, digital recorder for sketching out tunes before firing up the entire studio and doing the real takes. Or just to record practices. The H2N delivers in spades. Crystal clear, accurate recording at the flip of a switch. My default settings are the highest res stereo wav with the Lo-Cut and Limiter 1 filters on. I even put it in a corner of the room at a party/acoustic jam and got GREAT results. No low frequency rumble and no clipping. No, it is not multi-track, studio recording where you can isolate each instrument, but that is not what the H2N is for. For on-the-fly it is nothing short of magnificent. I have not tried the 4-channel features yet so I cannot speak to that. 3 final notes: 1) 2 AA batteries provide about 12 hours of recording. 2) The H2N comes with a 2-Gig Disc (thank you Zoom,) but buy a 32-Gig Disc and you get 15 hours of high resolution, wav file recording. 15 Hours! Uncompressed! 3) The H2N comes with Steinberg's Wavelab LE7. No, it is not Cubase, or Pro Tools, or whatever... but it is ridiculously rich in filters and options and effects to dress up the raw files. Like I said, I haven't done any 4-track recording with it and I do not believe that the included WL-LE7 will read 4 tracks (files)... BUT, the H2N does allow for converting 4-channel recordings to 2-track before exporting. For its ease of use, crystal clear recording and flexibility I strongly, passionately recommend getting the H2N. I've had it a week and flat-out LOVE it.

Before the Zoom F2, before the Tentacle Sync Track E, Before the Rode... There was the Tascam DL10L! Dual level, zero interference because it's internal recording, perfect file saving, long battery life, small form factor make it easy to hide, perfect for wedding and interviews... It does it all in a simple easy to use portable body! The ONLY system that comes close is the Tentacle Sync Track E... But at 2.5x's the price is the Tascam is still a contender! If you learn to rig the lav and isolate it from excess rustle or use software like the iZotope RX9 deRustle you can have an excellent tool to get doubt at all angles where a boom mic can't be (such as wife shots or moving shots). The Tascam is STILL one of the best. With it's dual track recording feature is essentially 30 bit recording! Bring able to record a second track at -6 and -12 db means you got it on high and on low gain at the same time. You pull that into your sound or video editor and boom adjust as necessary. No it doesn't actually have 32bit float... But having that second track -6 to -12 db lower dedicatedly give it just about the same flexibility.

If your budget allows, please do not settle for anything less than the Neumann 102. Over my 12 years of recording in a studios across the world, Neumann mics have provided the best sound overall across a diverse range of vocals. From singers, choirs, rappers, or broadcast, this is a must have! Do not settle if the budget allows.

I'm used to working on Keningston Trackballs in various recording studios, and I really wanted one in my office as well, so I jumped on B&H's recent flash sale on these. It's a really nice upgrade over the logitech marble trackball I was using previously. The ergonomics are night and day, thanks to the wrist rest and the larger size. It's also nice to have the scroll ring, which was absent on the logitech.

You can pay more for a fancy power conditioner or get this. These have been used in recording studios, live concert rigs, and professional sound systems for decades... proven reliability.

I use this in multiple recording studios and it's absolutely fantastic. Zero noise/interference. Excellent layout of outlets. And with coax and ethernet connections as well, it's simply a jack-of-all-trades. A+

I purchased over a dozen of these over the last several years. 3 pairs for myself and the rest for several small recording studios I helped put together. Make sure to replace the pleather pads with Beyerdynamic valour alternatives.

15+ years of seeing this on stages, multiday festivals, and recording studios. There's a reason it's in every professional's toolkit.

I have been working with professional equipment for many years, this microphone is beyond praise. I recommend it for professional studios and recording. I am currently using a microphone to record a presenter in a news studio
