Cloning Hdd To Ssd Windows 10 Laptop

Replaced old HDD with this SSD and ten year old Lenovo Thinkpad T510 now lightning fast laptop computer. Easy install after reviewing tutorial video on Crucial site. I used an optical drive caddy for cloning, and simply replaced internal HDD with SSD after cloning complete. Plan on purchasing another one for drive caddy for storage. I also installed new Crucial memory. Highly recommend for increasing speed on old laptop.

I replaced an OEM HDD on a Windows 8 HP G7-2246nr laptop with this SSD using Macronium Reflect Free. Noticed improved speed right away. Old HDD was hot to touch when removed. Glad it's gone. Here is what I did. 1) Created system image of entire old HDD to additional external USB HDD using Windows 8 File Recovery tool just in case. 2) Purchased USB 3 to SATA cable. 3) Installed Reflect and viewed support page that explains how to use Reflect. IMPORTANT 4) Cloned all partitions of old HDD in the same order that they are listed under source disk (0) in Reflect. Since is was downsizing from 512 GB old HDD to 240 GB SDD, I paused after dragging C: into destination disk to resize it down to 197 GB and set the drive letter from Auto to C. 5) Added all subsequent partitions including D for recovery (25 GB). Finished Clone keeping all partitions at original size except for C drive. 5) Shut down laptop and swapped out the hard drives and rebooted. Windows 8 recognized the SSD and there was no need to go into EUFI.

HDD's are the slowest peripherals in the PC today, plus use a lot of power, which is the bane of laptops. I'm on my fourth Samsung SSD now and will be going for number five. The task is getting the OS cloned to the new SSD. Samsung's. Their software works OK but has some limitations, it only works one way, you can't clone back to the HD. Also it will only clone the boot drive in the PC you are cloning with. My laptop only holds one HDD so I wound up buying one of those stand-alone cloning devices. That worked but it took hours!

Worked like a charm on my 2008 early MacBook Pro. After cloning the old hdd to the new ssd, installation was easy. Read and write speed is like day and night. I also increased RAM ordered through B&H. It’s like a new laptop. Thank you.

if you want to copy your data from laptop to new internal HDD/SSD this is a good one.

First 10 seconds on 450MB/sec. I have SSD and when i copiyng files from ssd to hdd first 10 seconds are on blazing speed. I do not know how, but it`s Awesome.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very well built laptop with great selection of ports and a good screen. Great performance. I had an external enclosure for the 2280 ssd format so I cloned the built in ssd to a larger one with great success. Switching the 2 ssd's was really easy and the laptop booted up immediately. The original, smaller ssd became a backup unit for imagings. No big difference in performance, but the extra storage space allowed me to load up my library of high quality music flac's for entertainment while travelling. If this laptop had a microsd slot, I would have used that for music. I was pretty familiar with the whole cloning process and took proper precautions with grounding of my body to avoid static damage. Aomei Backupper software provided very effective cloning. I use it for backing up the laptop to an external ssd. The enclosures for 2280 ssds have gotten much cheaper and much more reliable.

Glad I bought this SSD instead of a new laptop. Samsung cloning software worked beautifully. What a performance upgrade!
