I recently purchased this as an alternative to Unifi and wow...I really like the options and ability to edit this switch. The only thing I did not like is the cloud management. I prefer local because I don't like putting my stuff at risk by going through the internet. We have enough vulnerabilities in our networks, why risk it even more. Besides the options for management is better for local than the cloud. If you can get this, go get it...great switch.

Overkill for my home network, in the best possible way. Full local management, no cloud. Very responsive web UI.

The switch is great. I mean it's just a switch but the management features via the cloud key and portal app are also super. POE / power over ethernet, didn't realize how useful that can be. Will consider getting a POE phone and other devices soon perhaps too, now that we can! Other great things are the entire Ubiquiti solution we bought is working flawlessly when put all together. We have it all connected: the gateway router + 8 port managed switch + ACPRO + ACMESH + cloud key. It's just amazing really with the seamless hop / hop-back between the access points, and the reporting features and iPhone app are also very cool!

Having installed quite a few of these now... I've found it a great value for the money: it's about the same cost as a Cloud Key Gen2+ + a Unifi Security Gateway, but with more features, and a lot more throughput with all of the 'security features' turned on vs. the older USG. It has become my standard for building up a Unifi network stack.

I got sick of dealing with cloud services that want to sync everything (even if you don't), dictate my workflow and cost a fortune...so I bought three of these. They fit in my pocket, it's not a subscription, they work perfectly and I can keep them in my safe-deposit box...where, short of a nuclear bomb being dropped on my small local community bank, they can't be hacked or spied upon. I manage them with Apple's Time Machine. Less is more...again. Perfect.

This is our second DS1621+. These are quality products that are easy to deploy and secure on the web as a private cloud. I highly recommend using this product's Active Backup for Office application as a cost effective solution to backup all of Office 365 and as a cost effective private cloud storage for large rarely needed data (like camera data). Host it yourself and save 10s of thousands!

This is my first experience with a Unifi system. I kept going back and forth if the cost of a Cloud Key is worth it. I've heard stories of the Gen 1 units corrupting if power is lost. This unit has a capacitor to allow graceful shutdown if power goes out. If you love looking at stats and graphs, you need a Cloud Key, or must run the controller software on a dedicated device. I probably could've built a Raspberry Pi for less, but the simplicity of this device makes it worth it. Like my Unifi 8-port 150w, this cloud key runs warm. This seems to be normal, but I would not want to have this in a non-temperature controlled area.

Been using Photoshop and Lightroom for quite some time and was hesitant to use the Creative Cloud but realized that this is really very cost effective and you get all the updates as they become available. To get the updates prior to this it took many months to years and cost much more. This bundle is very cheap per month and pays for itself every time you use it. Happy Photography to everyone!
