Allows to get the flash off the body without having to pay for a commander. I like it.

Off camera flash is sometimes preferred to on camera flash. The SU-800 Commander is the perfect way to trigger my SB-700 flash when the flash is in a remote position off the camera's hot shoe. But, it is NOT a radio frequency control device so the flash has to see the trigger signal to fire. In normal rooms and offices it is a capable companion to the flash. The SU-800 will trigger multiple flashes off camera, as well, when set for this function.

I use the Air 1 Commander with the i60A with Fuji X-T1. The Air 1 Commander eliminates the shuttle between camera and flash. The i60A is very reliable allowing you to concentrate on creating your image without concern about the flash. Never have tried to use the flash without the commander.

With Nikon removing the on-camera flash, this is the last resort for commander controlling my multiple SB-910 Speedlites. Thanks B&H

Functions very well as on camera trigger for off camera flash in those camera bodies not equipped with on camera pop-up flash that can be used as a commander. Haven't tried in bright sun as of yet so can't comment on it's utility there.

For those times when a single, off-camera flash makes the difference between success and mediocrity, this wireless commander is a big deal. If you have it, make certain you upgrade the firmware on the F60RM, otherwise, the wireless commander simply won't work. Navigating Sony's websites can be daunting, but the downloads are there.

I bought Nissin Air1 commander and two Nissin receivers for my macro and dental photography. The two Sony HVL-F20M flashes with Nissin receivers are mounted on a macro camera set up I build myself. The Air1 commander is mounted on my Sony a7R2. This set up works great for me in TTL and Manual modes. Just remember to set flash mode on camera to WL. It has been a long wait for me as a Sony user waiting for someone to create system like this. Nissin answered my prayers in a big way. It works every time and without hiccups. Thank you Nissin! I highly recommend Air1 commander and receivers. This product is great and is priced not to brake the bank. Air1 commender and two receivers for under $300 is a steal. If you are in off camera flash or flash macrophotography and you are a Sony user, this gear has your name on it. I highly recommend it.

I purchased this commander unit to avoid using the pop-up flash for controlling speedlights. The pre-flash causes some people to blink. The SU-800 uses infrared light to connect with speedlights so there isn't the preflash problem. For indoor use, the ability to bounce or angle the signal off walls is very impressive. Like a billiards shot off three walls, I was pleased to be able to fire my lights even away from direct line-of-sight from camera position. I haven't used it outside in bright light, so I can't speak to outdoor or longer distance firing. Overall, easy to use, lightweight on the camera. I wished Nikon built it with a swiveling head, but I haven't missed a shot due to not being able to rotate the commander. You can also connect via a SC-29 cable to point it wherever you want.

I had tried another speedlight commander from Vello which only worked for about 30 shots and failed. Thought I could save some money but was disappointed. Had purchased the Nikon R-1 flash system and used the commander mode in camera which worked great. Wanted something I could adjust without camera menus. The Nikon Su-800 works great and I couldn't be more pleased. I mostly use a pair of SB-600's for fill flash when shooting in a bird blind and the Su-800 is just amazing! This commander allows me to control the R-1 flash units as well as the SB-600's for a more complicated table top system as well. Thanks B&H for your quick rma and refund for the Vello.
