Reviewing Plustek in general. I own and use the OpticBook A300 Plus (scans up to 12x17, drivers avail for Windows only ATM) and uniquely to Plustek, they scan extremely close to the edge (a few mm), so they are especially suited to book scanning. Other book scanning options such as a scanner/camera mounted on a stand taking photos of an open book, and then re-straightening the images in software look like a bogus approach if you want quality. Stick to Plustek or similar book-specific flatbed scanners. The software Plustek provides is basic. I recommend using 3rd party software (extra cost, sure) - for ex. VueScan (Windows or Mac) supports most/all of the Plustek scanners (after you install Plustek's own drivers) for scanning. And once a book is scanned to images, use something like ABBYY FineReader PDF for OCR/conversion to PDF, Word docx and other formats. You can even make your own ePub's using a process such as VueScan (Mac or Windows) - FineReader PDF OCR (Mac or Windows) - Export to docx - Import docx to Vellum (Mac only) - lots of manual tweaking - Export to ePub.

Marvelous device that does exactly what I want it to do: I work in an environment with Windows desktops. I can transfer PDF versions of texts and reprints to the iXpand Drive and access them from my iPad anywhere and everywhere I go. It also allows me to transfer work-related pictures from my iPhone to networked PCs.

I have used this scanner, and its nearly identical predecessor DR-4010C for nearly 20 years. It is heavy duty and reliable, with no issues or problems. After closing my law office, I scanned and converted several hundred boxes of client files to PDF computer files, before shredding all the paper. This scanner easily processed everything, and more, and continues to work well. I quickly scan whole books to PDF computer files, before converting them to text with OCR software, so the computer can read them using text-to-speech software. It just keeps on working as it should. This is the singularly best piece of office equipment I ever purchased. There is good reason Canon still makes this model with no apparent changes. You bet, I would buy it again. Sidebar Observation - I enjoy using this scanner with Canon's new I.R.I.S. PDF and OCR program, which works well and is well worth its comparatively low price. I have used most of the other major OCR and PDF programs, including, but not limited to, PaperPort, OmniPage, TextBridge, ABBYY OCR, Foxit PDF, Adobe Acrobat, Nitro PDF, and several others programs, and Canon's I.R.I.S. application is my current favorite. I could not upgrade the firmware from Godox through my windows 10. So after a computer professional looked over the situation said that Windows 10 would not recognize the upgrade due to the time Godox wrote the firmware upgrade. He used Windows 7 and the firmware upgrade worked.

As long as you have basic computer skills and some common sense. you will like this product. I have had it installed for about 9 months now. NO ISSUES AT ALL. I am an over the road truck driver and have a lot of business doc's I need to store and access when I'm on the road. I have a short cut to my 2100 on my desktop, one click and I'm looking at all my files stored in a safe place at home. It's WD so it has to be good! My first computer was Windows 3.1 machine.

Great to have this slide viewer to look at old family slides. The other Slide Viewer I own is not a good a magnifier or as easy to use. Definitely recommend this product!
