Compact Fitness Tracker

Although the most expensive of the fitness tracker watches, it worth it for serious trackers. Highly recommend.

I recently purchased the iOptron SkyGuider astral tracker and really wasnt sure if Id need this or not...so I bought it just in case.  Im so glad I did.  Not only is some kind of camera mount a must-have with that tracker mount, but this ball head really rocks.  Ive always been leery of ball head mounts, considering them way less rugged than the old school three-plane mount Ive used for years... I couldnt believe it, but this compact ball head mount kept my full frame nikon body and a nikon 200-500MM zoom lens rock steady for 3+ hours on an astral tracker mount.  Im talking a camera/lens combo that weighs just about 10 lbs!     If you need a very compact, very robust mount...just get this one.  You wont be sorry!

I bought this for my fitness portraits: compact, contrasty, simple. Turns out this thing throws a decent amount of light, so I can use it for so much more than intended! Love it.

The tracker works without any weights only with a light load, like a Sony A7x class camera, a VERY light and compact ball head, and a light (and slow) lens, like a Loxia 21mm f/2.8. The total weight must be less than 3.3 lbs, or you will end up ruining the tracker. If you use a more normal ball head and a lens like the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2, you will need one of these counterweights. If you use a heavier lens like a Sigma 14mm f/1.8, then one weight is not enough – you will need two. Also, for a Sigma 14/1.8, I would also recommend a support bracket to minimize vibrations, and that would add its own weight. So you will need two counterweights. And lastly, if you want to shoot the Andromeda galaxy with your 600mm f/4, you will probably need three, maybe even four of the counterweights. So buy as many as you need, depending on your use case. The counterweight itself is made well - it's as compact as it can be, without going to heavy metals like lead. It has a nice finish and easy to handle. The screw knob works well. And yes, you can use it to crack walnuts and it hurts if you drop it on your toe.

I love the Slik ECH-630 compact star tracker because you can take it anywhere and it fits in my camera bags perfectly and does not take up a lot of space like my other larger trackers. The quality of the product is excellent and is solidly built. I have used this for multiple time-lapse and milky way shots even during the last solar eclipse. one of the best features is being able to connect an external USB battery pack and it gives you days instead of just 20 hours. The only issue I have with this star tracker is the alignment using just the 2 visual ports on the device but I have a solution for that and purchased a green bore laser and can now polar align perfectly. I highly recommend this and also the SLIK SMH-250.

Great notebook. I use this as my gardening tracker so it holds up well.
