Lumix is the best brand of digital cameras so I would not use anything but the best battery in them.

UV is not necessary for digital cameras, but it is good to have it on just for protection.

I use this camera for both video and still photography. The quality is awesome when comparing to other video cameras in the same price range. I am very pleased with this purchase! Currently, I have no complaints at all about the product.

I am really excited to put my hands on it. I have been comparing it with other cameras in the market and this new sony keeps popping up to overtake other pro.cameras around. Price is not bad for that type of pro camera, the price of it matches a price of a DSLR body only camera; plus the built in lens that comes with it is a multi purpose lens that serves the necessary situations that a photographer will be put in. My advice to all is to consider this awesome camera that is made by sony.

Comparing this camera to the SL2 is more apples and oranges than I would have thought. The SL2-S is great in low light, and has somewhat faster autofocus. While both cameras produce gorgeous images, there are differences in what comes directly out of the camera. They are not huge differences and can be easily corrected afterwards. The best review of this camera I have seen, and one that explores the differences between the SL2-S and the SL2 is the review from Steve Huff (one of the reviews on this site). I think that he provides an accurate assessment. I am still getting used to both cameras but I really enjoy the feel of the SL series camera body and the ease of use of the controls. While I bought the SL2 before the SL2-S came out, I can see that there are enough differences between the two that I am quite happy to have both. I think the SL2 excels in landscape, architecture, and in anything where I need to crop and can thus benefit from the larger file size. The SL2-S would be my choice for general purpose travel, evening and night photography (particularly street scenes), and most action-related stuff such as my dogs. Admittedly, neither camera has the incredible autofocus capability of recent higher end Sony or Canon cameras but both the SL2 and SL2-S are capable with the edge going to the SL2-S.

Serious amateur here, like the 1-inch group because for me the most important camera feature is pocketability. Some of the reviews are comparing these cameras to all cameras, which is like comparing apples and oranges. But, of the 3 makers of 1-inch sensors, this is clearly the new king. Sony was clearly the leader with the Rx100. But with the 6, they opted for zoom lens over fast lens. Now, with the 1-inch sensor and the F 1.8 -2.8 4 x zoom, G7x mark 2 is the new leader. Picture quality is fantastic. The fast lens actually lets this rival APS-C quality (I have a few of those too, and truly do not see a difference - minus special lenses of course) ). The autofocus is very fast and accurate. (unlike the new Ricoh GR3 which I found unusable). Video is nice, at 1080 HD, crisp picture, sound, and quick lighting and focus adjustment, although I do not use video that often, so can not really give a fair assessment of that aspect of it. bottom line if you want a serious camera, that can fit in your pocket, this is the best of the bunch right now.
