Computer Keyboard Drum Software

At the lowest price I could find for a controller keyboard, the Korg nanoKey2 is very impressive. It only has twenty-five keys, but the octave shift buttons allow you to change the octave up and down, giving reach to the full range of notes for electronic music. It has neat pitch bend, sustain, and vibrato buttons, too. It resembles a computer keyboard in the flatness and shape of the keys and is even smaller than a computer keyboard. It works great with my electronic music software. It even picks up musical accent (velocity); so the harder you press the keys, the louder it is, and the softer you press the keys, the quieter it is. The only thing that would make it better is if it had sounds of its own. However, it serves its purpose as a Musical Instrument Digital Interface controller well. It comes with a software code so you can download some electronic music programs from the Internet; so if you do not have music software already, you can get some to use with the nanoKey2. The cable that it comes with stays in the socket very tightly and it will not fall out so easily. This is good so it will not disconnect on accident. Overall, the Korg nanoKey2 is a good buy for being able to listen to, experiment with, and record sounds in audio software without having to use the computer mouse and computer keyboard all the time to program commands and test out sounds. It is light-weight and its slim-line design is very convenient and saves space. It would be good for use with a laptop on the go. I find it a nice addition to my desktop home studio. It is perfect in function for its size. Very neat.

This is the review that I hoped I'd be able to give when I started using the v850, and the review I wished I could have read when I was the one shopping for a scanner: Besides professional drum scanning, this is as good as it gets for large format film scanning. I scan 4x5 color negatives. I use the included silverfast software in wide transparency mode and put the negatives directly on the scanner, emulsion side down, with a piece of anti-newton glass on top of it. This uses the lower resolution lens, but you don't need to go higher than 4800ppi unless you are making truly massive prints (I usually scan at 1600ppi. The file size for a 48bit image is around 300mb, and it's suitable for an excellent print up to 20x25". The flatness of the negative and the clarity achieved with this method are the best I've seen, short of a professional drum scanner. You have to be extra careful to avoid finger prints, scratches and dust with this method, but unless you are filthy rich or have only a small amount of film to have drum scanned, you will not get better results any other way. I highly recommend the scanner glass cleaning kit that B&H recommends as an accessory. Another hint, if you don't know: you don't need to worry about color calibration software and targets if you are scanning negatives--it's only relevant for positive transparencies and reflective scanning. The negafix tool in the silverfast software uses the correct color profile for the negative film you are using, and you can further adjust these profiles if you want to.

I use my Novation Impulse for making basic beats in Ableton Live and Garageband. I don't have a great frame of reference, but can say that this keyboard has done everything I've expected of it and more. I'm particularly pleased with the drum pads that come with Roll and Arp settings which have allowed me to make some pretty unique rhythmic patterns I otherwise would be lost making. Finally, this keyboard is very handsome. Backlit buttons and drum pads along with a sleek design allow my modest little operation to look nearly legit. Surely not a reason to buy a keyboard, but a bonus nonetheless.

This keyboard is awesome for the price and portability. I can put it in my backpack and take it anywhere. The Drum pads are an awesome add on that most keyboards dont have at this price range. I highly recommend this product if you are a beginner or intermidiate user. This mini keyboard pays off big.

I play keyboards in two bands, and I bought one of these because its height could be adjusted higher than the drum thrones that I've been using as my keyboard seat. I liked it so much that I bought two more. The range of height adjustability is excellent, the seat cushion is firm (but comfortable for me over a 3 1/2 hour gig), so will hopefully not deteriorate too quickly, and the cushion is shaped in a useful way (at least for me). I have found them useful around the house as well; again, the height works much better in my ammo hand-loading room than the office chair I was using previously. It seems very sturdy and well-built as well (I can't use normal keyboard benches, as I'm too active on stage and break them). It folds up very quickly and compactly. The only downside, IMO, is their weight compared to a normal keyboard bench, but it's not any heavier than the drum throne it replaced.

This keyboard creates both MIDI and CV and it's also a sequencer and a drum-machine and everything you would like to have. It makes most of my Eurorack modules so much more useful, because there are things I wouldn't do because of too much wiring, but KeyStep Pro creates all the signals, they're synchronized and it's so much easier.

This is the second Zagg Case/Keyboard I have owned. It’s the only keyboard that I have found that allows me to type as I would on a full sized computer keyboard.

This IOGEAR GCS110-4 4-Port KVMP switch is my first purcahse of this type of gear...should have bought one years ago. I had checked out one of the other brands, but the manufacturer's web-site had the same photo and description for two models, very confusing. I am using this switch with three computer, Win7, Win8.1 and a Linux rig. I keep the fourth port open for testing other computers, no need to connect one being tested to a separate keyboard and mouse setup. This switch allows me to easily switch between computers via keyboard shortcuts. I have a Logitech Keyboard and Mouse which share a single wireless USB dongle, plugging the dongle into the keyboard USB port of the monitor area of the switch allows me to use the keyboard and mouse on all computers. I did have to uninstall the Logitech software which allowed for custom keyboard layout (volume up/down, next track, etc.) as it seemed to conflict with the way the KVMP switch emulated Keyboard and Mouse Control...not an issue for me in this case. I am not a hard-core gamer, thus do not have a mouse with 92 buttons on it..more of a FPS and Flight Sim guy here. I like the fact that I can switch the keyboard/mouse, Vidoe and USB separately from the audio, that is I can have music playing on one computer, switch the Keyboard/Mouse, Video, and USB to another computer and still hear the music from the first computer. I have all my external drives and printers connected directly to the Win7 computer working as a server for all my data. I have a USB hub connected to the KVMP input which is accessed by whichever computer I am using for such things as my web-cam, joystick, multimedia card reader, and ID CAC Card Reader. I started taking IT classes and now I can easily do remote access, learned how to access Windows Shared Folders from the Linux box...and more, having the computers side by side with one control system is a Godsend. I would recommend this switch to anyone considering such a purchase.
