Computer Keyboard Music Composer Software

At the lowest price I could find for a controller keyboard, the Korg nanoKey2 is very impressive. It only has twenty-five keys, but the octave shift buttons allow you to change the octave up and down, giving reach to the full range of notes for electronic music. It has neat pitch bend, sustain, and vibrato buttons, too. It resembles a computer keyboard in the flatness and shape of the keys and is even smaller than a computer keyboard. It works great with my electronic music software. It even picks up musical accent (velocity); so the harder you press the keys, the louder it is, and the softer you press the keys, the quieter it is. The only thing that would make it better is if it had sounds of its own. However, it serves its purpose as a Musical Instrument Digital Interface controller well. It comes with a software code so you can download some electronic music programs from the Internet; so if you do not have music software already, you can get some to use with the nanoKey2. The cable that it comes with stays in the socket very tightly and it will not fall out so easily. This is good so it will not disconnect on accident. Overall, the Korg nanoKey2 is a good buy for being able to listen to, experiment with, and record sounds in audio software without having to use the computer mouse and computer keyboard all the time to program commands and test out sounds. It is light-weight and its slim-line design is very convenient and saves space. It would be good for use with a laptop on the go. I find it a nice addition to my desktop home studio. It is perfect in function for its size. Very neat. 5 |

I purchased this in 2022 for a new music studio. It is a great compact 16x4 channel audio mixer. Includes 4 stereo input channels as well as 2 internal effects buss. While it is no longer in production by PreSonus, nor directly supported, you can still get current up to date software and drivers and applications from PreSonus, technical support discussions via email and plenty of user discussions and templates on how to use it. Fully automated, it can be augmented with the free PreSonus Capture & Universal Control software to connect from a computer hands free in Windows & even set up as the default Windows Audio device. Mac users also! Although my review is August 2024, it is still my only digital mixer in the studio. I would suggest buying any protection offered by B&H. This mixer has both a Firewire and a USB specific model, so make sure you understand the interface if you will be using this with a computer. There are plenty YouTube videos on many topics regarding this device. There is even training software offered from many vendors that cover the mixer functionality in great depth. PreSonus has many videos on functionality with its DAW software Studio One. Here's a great video: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edeXxmRZ0rU) A fantastic way to mix live as well as digital software music from a computer. XLR inputs, +48v power for Condenser mics, 1/4 and RCA audio inputs, Talkback, Main outputs, Aux (4 ch buss) outputs and software Buss functionality thru Universal Control. This product comes with some application software after registration. Mine came with Studio One Artist - check their web site after registration. 5 |

I edit video using Avid Media Composer software on a PC platform. I have always used Kensington track balls since at least 1989. This is the onlyMouse I'll use. 5 |

I use the skin on my MacBook Pro's keyboard when I am editing with Avid Media Composer. It covers the enitre keyboard and has the shortcut keys on the skin which helps access the shortcuts easier. 5 |

As a film editor, I've cut on Avid Media Composer since it was invented, and now also FCPX and Protools. I like this keyboard the best. I've used all the Apple standards, Macally, and Logickeyboard Proline and this is the finest touch of all. The illumination is great, instead of having a goofball little USB light mounted to it. I like that we finally have a BLACK keyboard for Mac, thank you very much, and the extra USB ports are a great feature. Just the right height, too, and looks good on the desk with the Tangent control and Kensington Pro trackball. And I'll tell you a secret. With so many years on Avid I use the Media Composer layout and remap FCPX to conform so I don't loose years of muscle memory and speed. Don't be afraid of that trick if you are a longtime Avid editor moving to FC. This is the keyboard you've been waiting for, ladies and gentlemen. 5 |

I'm a composer/arranger, and this turned out to be just what I needed to elevate my laptop over my piano keyboard. Easy to assemble, would recommend it. 5 |

I'm a musician with 2 bands as well as a composer and performer of my original music. I you use the Alesis SR 18 to create original drum tracks for my compositions. It has been great-sounding & easy to use right out of the box. The MIDI out is a great help when using other rhythmic software, as is the AUX in for other instruments. The price was unbeatable, and with the adjustable swing & quantize functions, it's as close to a real drummer as a machine can get. I haven't found anything to complain about except the bass patterns, but I don't use them - I create my own. As a drum machine, this is an excellent choice 5 |

The lensbaby composer pro was an awesomely effective element when shooting my latest music video. It was pretty easy to get the hang of and is super fun to use. I love it and I'm excited to use it for photography! 5 |
