Connect Spectrum 802.11 Ac Wave 2 Router

Upgraded from 802.11ac router and wireless network was dramatically improved - both speed and reliability. Gigabit FiOS was previously bottle necked by old router but now getting much closer to advertised numbers. No longer having issues with mult computers accessing VPNs and/or simultaneous Zoom calls. Set-up took a few tries but now very reliable. Very happy with upgrade. 5 |

I replaced a Meraki MR26 with this UAP-AC-HD. I know, 802.11n vs 802.11ac. But the MR26 is a really nice, well-built AP by a leading enterprise manufacturer. Problem was, I kept having clients disassociate from it, coverage was okay, but not great, etc. Swapped in this UAP-AC-HD and it's been a night and day difference. Clients that used to disconnect and have issues streaming media, etc. now have zero issues and coverage is better. Throughput tests also show a marked improvement, but that's expected with 802.11n vs 802.11ac. Initial set up of a new Unifi Controller can take a little time (although the Cloud Key makes this really simple), but once your controller is set up adding new APs like this one is a breeze. Plug it in, click Adopt, done. Super easy setup. Stats provided via the controller are really helpful, provide easy to view charts/graphs, etc. Overall really great product at an unbeatable price point. Not missing anything after replacing my enterprise name brand wireless system. 5 |

Switched from Cisco WAP371's to the UAP-AC-Pro. Excellent WAP with great speed and reliability. Allows setting of DTIM and beacon intervals to optimize iOS performance (beacon 50 ms, DTIM 4) to prevent missing WiFi calls, multicasts, etc. UBNT is working on implementing 802.11k and 802.11r which should allow seamless roaming. Can't wait for this feature! Units look nice mounted, and you can disable the LED. 5 |

The TP-Link AV600 Powerline Adapter is a little jewel for extending a wired Internet connection. Simply plug one unit into an AC wall outlet near a router and the other unit into an AC wall outlet in the area where one wants a wired Internet connection. Then, connect the unit by the router to the router with an Ethernet cable. Next, connect the other Powerline adapter to the device, e.g. computer, with another Ethernet cable. Now, one has a wired connection to the router. It works seamlessly by using the electrical wiring in one's building. 5 |

I use these cables to connect my pc with the new wireless AC router and modem. They look solidly built, are thicker than your average Ethernet cables and are somewhat stiffer (perhaps due to the double protection layer). Simply wanted the best cables and I think these are it. Cannot say anything on the speed benchmarks, but I think when we get Google fiber the throughput may come in handy. 5 |

I have used routers from Netgear, Linksys, and others for years. They all seem to die after a year or so. The newer ones with more CPU usually overheat, become unreliable, and have not had predictable throughput. Eventually I buy a new router. I do not mind the upgrade, but the high-speed routers from other brands typically are twice the price. This router so far has given repeatable performance. The old router often reached 74Mbps but dipped and slowed (802.11ac PC). The Archer A73X transfers at a steady 80MB/s or more, no dips. I upgraded my other PC with a TP-Link WiFi 6E AX5400 PCIe WiFi Card (Archer TXE75E) to take advantage of 802.11ax. Although predicted for higher speeds it does reach 110MB/s reliably in my system. The only thing I find is the wireless coverage is better and worse depending upon device. I have an older tablet that is not as fond of the Archer A73X and drops connection. As mentioned, the two main PCs above are stable and reliable. Hope it doesn't die like the others. A month in, so far, so good. 5 |

The UPS is being used to protect two oscillascopes and a spectrum analyzers in a remote cell tower. The UPS generates clean AC power. Other UPS's I tried were too noisey to make accurate measurements. The switch from AC to battery and back again is fast enough to not cause any problems with the test gear. 5 |
