I used the Yeti originally for a group project reading a script followed by being an alternate microphone for filming scenes on a green screen for a short film. It excelled at picking up everyone's voice with ridiculous clarity by simply being set on a coffee table in a living room. It performed very well for giving us a superior audio feed while filming on a somewhat slim budget. Now that the project is over with, I use the Yeti in place of my old gaming headset for Ventrilo while playing Starcraft 2 and FFXI. People say I sound completely different; they say I actually sound like myself. It's great! You can hear it put to use Aside from great clarity, what really makes the Yeti nice for its price is the on-mic options. You can change between 4 modes (Stereo, bi-directional, omni-directional, and frontal) and all pick up exactly as you would expect. You can also change the gain on the fly without touching any software to get clarity up close or far away if necessary. It is big and heavy, don't underestimate it. But after having it for a few weeks I kind of like that. In fact, its size and weight help make it sturdy enough that I don't even consider it a con. It does fold up, and can be transported pretty easily for its size. All in all, this thing is great! If you voice chat, podcast, or even need something nice for low budget voice acting or filming, the Yeti will not disappoint.

This is my 2nd purchase of AT897. I've used Senheiser 416, 816, ME66, and AT839. Obviously, it cannot beat 416 and 816. But it comes with the prices. However, as a low-budget project producer, the quality of the sound is acceptable for the most of my customers. If you compare with 416 back toi back, you can clearly hear the difference. AT897 is less clear in both high and low. But it's acceptable quality for most people. If you're working on a low-budget project, Audio Technica Shotgun mic is the alternative to 416 and ME66.

I was about to start a very low budget documentary project and almost didn't make this purchase, thinking I might be able to get away with the on-camera microphone on my Sony XH-A1s. Thank goodness I didn't. This microphone picked up excellent audio, even in crowded noisy environments and I now have tons of quality (and USABLE!) footage that I would not otherwise have been able to get. I used the microphone mounted on the camera which worked pretty well. Of course, if the camera (and therefore mic) isn't pointing at someone the audio quality isn't there (if it's there at all). If I can have a bigger crew next time, I'll definitely go with a boom pole.

It was awesome for our project budget. It fits all sets, whether for fill light or Key light. The Lantern softbox come in handy. We got the shot we need. we all have smile on our face while having this light in our crew.

Worked as advertised. Helped project be completed within budget constraints. Plug and play ease.

We are having our project managers use these when they are onsite at construction sites and so far we have purchased over 20 and they are working great.
