This device provides the means of remote control of lights (on, off, intensity). The Vasa app used to interface with the switch is simple to use and includes switch installation instructions that were thorough and clear.  I have very little experience with electrical wiring, but was able to effect the installation in relatively short order.  Just needed to make a quick trip to the hardware store to buy a current detector.  The switch has an elegant appearance and can be smoothly operated, either directly or remotely

Bear in mind that we now own several Wemo smart switches in our home and this Smart Plug is the latest to join our collection Wemo products. Needless to say we would not be investing further in Wemo if we didn't find the product extremely useful and easy to manage and use. These new or latest Smart Plug are the smallest of all the plugs we own, and so we're excited to be able to now use them in places where we can leverage the 2nd outlet in a switch plate. Previous units were bigger and would not allow both outlets to be used, so these are game changers for us. Simple to use and simplier to setup. Just plug them in, watch for them to appear in your phone's network, select the Wemo device in your network and switch to the Wemo app to complete the setup. If it's not your first Wemo device, then the new devices will get your Network information from the Wemo app. We use them to control everything that doesn't use a soft switch to control (e.g. our coffee maker), otherwise very practical on Lamps of all sorts, etc. Good luck with yours, we love ours.

Works great. I had the previous generation and it does not disappoint, which was my switch from iPhone to Android.

I'm a HUGE fan of this device....especially when used with an Android phone, which all you need is a USB A to C adapter for. If you wanna do videos or podcasts with great audio on the go...without bringing a computer...this is the way to go. Will this drive an sm7b? No....no it won't...but most dynamics it will...condensers, no problem. I just snap a klark teknik ct1 onto this thing for sm7b use...still ultra portable, and the price of both is just over a hundo. For the record....I've owned TWO Shure x2u devices....both went bad. Go with this for ultra portability. [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

In the past, I used a Western Digital WDTV Live for Netflix, as well as to access all of my locally-stored media (a task at which it still excels). but it is becoming old and not totally reliable for Netflix. I also have a Wii U, which handles CrunchyRoll, and, lately Netflix, without the crazy background noise of the XBox 360. It, however, lacks a couple of features I use, such as local media access and Internet radio. Both the WDTV and the Wii U are not likely to see much feature development, unlike an Android box. Hulu, for example, was pulled from the Wii U last year. When the new Shield TV was announced, I hoped I could use it the replace the streaming and local media services of the WDTV and the Wii U. It ships with Netflix, although I could do without the Netflix button on the remote, and CrunchyRoll and Kodi are free downloads. So far, all are working well.Setup options allow for system flexibility in terms of audio channels and video display. The main menu is also easy to personalize. I have paired a Bluetooth keyboard for text entry in search fields and there are some games which work with it.My only difficulty is not with the Shield, itself, but wading through the sea of streaming apps, to see what is really usable. There are many free ones, but the activation requires an account on the web site of the publisher, which cannot be done through the Shield, apparently by design of the publishers. I have not yet tried the pay services, other then Netflix and CrunchyRoll which predate my purchase of the Shield. What I have installed, so far, easily fits into the smaller memory of this model Shield, but I added a 32G MicroSD, just as I did on my old Android phone, and made it primary storage for everything.

Is it a $1000 pro tripod? No. Is it good enough for your indie project? Your public access TV station? Your documentary? Absolutely.
