For corporate jobs, I travel with my full-sized Feisol CT-3472LV tripod, a Think Tank Street Walker Hard Drive Pro, the 1DX mark ii and three to four lenses. The bag weighs a lot and when the job is over the back is screaming for relief. As I planned a holiday trip with my wife I wanted to lighten my load. Planning started with getting out the kitchen scale and weighing all of my gear. I decided to invest in a travel tripod. I already own a ballhead, an arca swiss p0. I've been super happy with my Feisol full-sized tripod, which was recommended by Peter Hurley. After a lot of research and soul searching I decided to go with the Feisol travel tripod as opposed to the Gitzo which is a lot more money. I found that the Feisol tripod is very, very nice and a lot of value. I used it to shoot my trip to Iceland and was happy with the purchase. It will also come in handy on corporate jobs where weight is at a premium. The tripod fits nicely on the Think Tank Trifecta 10 back pack. It also fits perfectly into a checked bag on the airlines, and gets to where you are going. The foam on the top sections is quality, and I did not experience any issues with the fasteners. The collars that hold the legs in place are decent, you just have to make sure they are tight. I recommend the tripod if you are trying to get the most bang for your buck. If I had unlimited funds, I would probably go for the Gitzo. 5 |
