Yes it's an expensive gamble, but the 1st repair on a mac within the 1st 3 years is usually going to be more than or at least almost as much as it costs to buy the AppleCare. It is a lot cheaper from B&H than on other sites or directly from Apple.

My assistant dropped my 85 m f/1.2 and the repair costs would be over $1000 so I debated whether to purchase the 135 mm f/2 or this. Unfortunately I purchased the 135 mm f/2 initially and regret it. Then I bought this beautiful magical lens. It is lighter and fast than the f/1.2, has crispness and colors in a range beyond the 135 mm. I am super happy with this lens and if you are debating between the 135 mm and this, please spend the $ and buy this one!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While it costs a pretty penny, its totally worth it. I can run (2) 27" 4k monitors from my MacBook Air without any trouble. I prefer to run my MacBook Air in clamshell mode. It creates an awesome desktop experience. I would also recommend using a free app called Amphetamine. It helps smooth out the rough edges, when MacOS wants to go sleep.

This thing costs quite a bit, but the convenience of not having to worry about stocking air and the sheer power of the thing are worth it. I find I do not use the attachments much. Normally the inch wide main opening is still moving air with enough force to knock dust off as needed.

There's a learning curve involved, but it's not too much.
