Can make crazy and unusual macro photos. The images are sharp. The aperture (important for very wide angle) can produce a nice starburst when aimed into the sun (although can flare if not careful). Using this lens is challenging -- the lens itself is superb, but wide-angle macro has a host of issues: keeping the lens from casting a shadow on a subject and simply coming up with creative compositions. While I'm fine with full manual, the one suggestion for improvement would be to have an aperture stop so a photographer can move from f4 to whatever the lighting is set for (e.g., f11) by touch alone. This lens isn't for most people I suspect, but is a powerful creative tool for some. 5 |
