Day Hike Camera Backpack

This is a fantastic bag! I can hike all day and it feels like I'm not wearing a backpack at all. I use a Canon R5 with an RF 70-200mm f/2.8, so it's not exactly the lightest or smallest rig out there, and I also carry the 10 essentials of hiking with me at all times. The camera with the lens attached fits (barely) in the camera cube, but it's easy enough to get in and out. I am a big guy at 6' 2 and 275 lbs. but it's still comfortable to wear. My only minor gripe is that the harness and clips that come with the kit are a bit short for someone of my build, so if I'm carrying the camera attached near the sternum strap, it's pretty close to my face. For the average person, this wouldn't be a problem. 10/10 recommend! 5 |

The perfect day hiking camera backpack you can buy, it's just great! It cares all the camera items I need for a day hike of taking photos. 5 |

The Manfrotto mini tripod is the perfect size to throw in the backpack for a day hike. It holds a smartphone for that perfect group selfie. No worries about it collapsing like the other flimsy types. Recommended. 5 |

I love this backpack. I wanted to put together a kit that was light and compact enough to hike all day while also giving me the flexibility I need to get whatever shot I want, and I bought this backpack specifically to house the kit. My kit is: Panasonic Lumix S5iiX Panasonic Lumix S 24mm, 50mm, and 85mm f1.8 primes Rode Wireless Pro lav kit A grey card, cables, batteries, and some filters All of that fits in the Outrigger 45 perfectly and, including the backpack, the whole kit weighs about 10 pounds. I can hike all day and it feels like I'm barely carrying anything. The Outrigger is designed so that the weigh is distributed high and across the chest, it feels extremely comfortable. I highly recommend it. 5 |

Purchased this day hike bag to replace my backpack with no regrets. It got me down to Dripping Springs in the Grand Canyon and back. Light weight and easy fitting. Light weight but still rugged. I love it. Other hikers commented on it too. 5 |

Excellent bag for hiking with camera gear (or even for a day hike). It's big, but COMFORTABLE. 5 |

This case does exactly what I hoped it would do. It fits in my backpack when I want to take my camera along on a hike, and it can also act as a standalone case. I've had it for a few weeks now and it seems sturdy and well-made. I'm very happy with it. 5 |

The best dedicated camera backpack for hiking, however, since this pack has a rear access panel it limits the ability to have a fully adjustable harness for a perfect fit. I used this pack on a 13 mile hike with about 2000 feet of elevation gain and on the hike out I started to feel the soreness on my shoulders. There's absolutely nothing with the pack, it's just the trade off of comfort for ease of access. I may return this because I need the comfort of an adjustable harness from a traditional hiking backpack. This is AWESOME pack, you won't be disappointed unless you are a serious hiker and you don't need quick access to your gear. YMMV. 5 |

I used to think that the idea of carrying my very expensive camera from something like the Capture clip was a bad idea, but I've got tired of having to take it out of my backpack every time I want to take a photo on a hike. Decided to give the Capture clip a whirl. It's been great so far. Took some time to get used to the weight distribution on the shoulder - balancing the weight of the contents in the backpack is critical. But taking photos on a hike is a lot more convenient now! 5 |

When I bring my Nikon Z5 out on a hike, I'm usually carrying a backpack and pair of binoculars as well, so adding a camera neck or shoulder strap is a recipe for tangled straps and sore shoulders. I've been using a SpiderPro belt to carry my cameras for almost 4 years now and I swear by their system. I'm glad they added Arca-Swiss compatibility to this plate (I also have their DSLR plate for my D750, and I have to mount an addition QR plate to it when I plan to put the camera on a tripod). This version is nicely streamlined on a Nikon Z5/6/7. My only quibble is that the metal knob on the bottom feels a bit awkward when using certain lenses--it just forces me to hold the lens differently than I normally would. 5 |
