The combination of Canon products (camera & printer) enable a consistent definition of colors.

Have spent over 25 years doing nature photography semi-professionally. Always had a nice pair of 10X binocs with me (a major 'alpha' brand, Nitrogen filled, BAK-4, Porro, etc) and always believed that any money spent was best spent on camera lens glass - Leica, Zeiss, Nikon, Canon L. Well, after a quarter-century I came to realize I was wrong, and that I have deprived my now aging eyes of the lost glory of nature watching rather than imaging, and just getting the camera shot. Just bought a pair of the 10X50 Ultravid HD's from B&H. WOW!. Have spent hours looking at birds and only now appreciating the phenomenal clarity, brightness, definition and 3-D sparkle these binocs provide. Earlier today, savoring the pupil/iris definition in a Great Blue Heron at 100 feet. Just finished watching small spheres of sleet bouncing off a nuthatch's wings at 50 feet. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER! . . . yes, they are expensive, but IMHOpinion, well worth it. Thanks Leica, and thanks B&H for getting them to me so quickly

These macro extenders are well made, precise, tight, and very lightweight, in keeping with the lightweight construction of the Z50. Not quite as heavy or solid as the Kenko equivalents. Contact rings are chrome plated metal, bodies are plastic. They look like part of the lens and camera when mounted. Images are superior to those using front mounted optics. Autofocus and exposure are seamless. With a zoom you sometimes have to adjust focal length to get within focus range. The extremely shallow field depth is useful for shooting skittish subjects like birds through a closed window, so long as the window is clean enough the camera doesn't focus on the dirt instead of what you want to shoot. The first photo is a generic definition test with the Z50 DX 50-250 f/4.5-6.3 VR kit lens at 50mm f/4.5 1/80s ISO1000 and 32mm extension. Definition is good at center but not so good at margins. The second is a snapshot through a window with the same camera and lens at 250mm f/6.3 1/400s ISO5600 and 20mm extension (unfortunately with a table lamp light reflected by the window). The third image is a crop of the second showing detail definition. The fourth image is a simple crop of the second without further editing.
