Dell Computers For Video Editing 2017 Desktop

Bought this to repair my Dell desktop. The same one that was in it.

I purchased the Mac Mini M2 Pro for video editing, as my 2017 Macbook Pro was getting a bit pokey for 4K, 10-bit footage. The new Mini has handled this job without a hiccup so far, and the speedy internal SSD and an external SSD I built to go with it have helped enormously. I'd originally been looking at the Mac Studio, but the less expensive but very punchy Mini made more sense for what I do. Love it.

After much research about what monitor to pair with a new computer I build for photo and video editing I went with the Dell U2723QE for the higher definition and color profile. It has been an excellent monitor for both photo and video. I have my old monitor next to it in a dual monitor setup where I place other open program and this has improved my productivity greatly

Whether your using FCP or AVID you want a Mac Pro pushing your software making your system fast and reliable. I picked this computer because it was the middle of the road. Everything I need in power right now with a little room to grow into the future. I upgraded to 12GB of RAM and my machine is purring. This is working perfectly for me. I work with students, so I have a few computers on a work desk for them to do their video editing. I'm using this Auray dual headphone holder between 2 of the computers to keep things off the desktop. It attaches easily with the clamp. It also rotates 360 degrees for whatever position is better for your needs. Options are always a welcomed thing. I like that the clamp has a rubber pad cushion to allow it to attach firmly, while still preventing any damage or scratches to the desk. It's made of aluminum, so I have no fear of it breaking. Again, this is working exactly how I hoped for my situation and love that 2 headphones can fit on one holder. Which saves even more space. Dell is reliable, and the Optiplex 7020 gives me what I need in a desktop computer.

I use several external SSDs while editing video for broadcast. This helps me to work on programs at home or at the office. The Thunderbolt cable not only connects the SSDs to my desktop, it also connects my laptop to my desktop. The ability to transfer 30 GB files in less than a minute (machine to machine) is a great help.

I've been looking for a good pair of desktop monitors for a while now. My primary use is video editing with Premiere Pro. I also use them for listening to the audio from an SDR (Software Defined Radio) and general purpose use ie: streaming video. These fit my needs perfectly. The are the perfect size for my limited desk space. Best of all the sound quality is awesome! They totally blow away the built in speakers in my laptop. The detail is amazing compared to what I was used to. I have no need for a sub with my setup.

This is a gem. I do a lot of video editing using multiple portable and desktop drives as well as needing to charge my cell phone and various bits of camera gear. I've got my seven most used drives plugged in now and can access any of them just by turning the ports on (or off when done). Have my cell charger permanently plugged in. Sure beats the old method of only being able to run two drives at once. Highly recommend this...small desktop profile. Power for drives and charging. Can't ask for much more.
