Dell Plug And Play Docking Station

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This docking station has been a god send. The docking station is both convenient and practical. My husband uses this in his home office and it is wonderful. He has a Mac Book and as such can only plug and play a couple of items, this docking station however allows for him to use all of the tools he needs without having to sacrifice one or two tools for another. No more unplugging something to use something else. The plug and play capability straight out of the box means that it is a tool that ANYONE can use. Additionally, we kind of hate clutters of wires and this keeps everything neat and tidy in this aspect. We have a 3D printer and a secondary monitor as well as a few other items that need to be plugged in and this allows for all of these tools to just remain "plugged" in and there is no longer a need to unplug one to plug in another. All in all I give this a 10/10.

Plug my external drives and mouse into it, then plug it into my laptop. Being on the road, it is almost a docking station for the hotel room. Small and light enough to keep in my laptop back-pack, yet sturdy enough that it will not get crushed in there either. My laptop only has USB 2.0 ports, so I cannot say anything about the speed.

I had a dell docking station but it would not allow me to turn on the laptop from it. I could only turn on or wake up the laptop by opening it up. The HP docking station allows the me to turn the laptop on without having to open it up. Please with my HP docking station

I got a couple new DisplayPorts to connect my BenQ monitors with my Dell 6000S docking station. These are super solid! I like how they sort of clip into each socket so they never fall out on their own.

If you have a Dell Latitude with a docking station, the only way you can get full resolution on a 30 monitor is with a DisplayPort cable. This did the trick.

Solves the problem of not being able to get 3 video outputs when using 2 normal DisplayPort cables on a Dell docking station.

Using this docking station with my Dell XPS15. One Thunderbolt connection is now all I need to have my laptop connected to two QHD monitors (one of them widescreen), desktop speakers, keyboard/mouse, and a backup hard drive. That still leaves a few ports available for additional accessories. The only thing that would possibly make this dock better would be the SD card readers that some other brands include. It's nice to be able to just unplug one connection to go portable - and plug back in for a desktop-like experience. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

This works quite well as long as you don't use a Dell USB docking station. That docking station overwhelms the USB bus with video signal and makes any other hub time out. Can't even use the docking station just for video and this for the USB. Otherwise it works like a charm. Fast switching between machines.
