Dell Thunderbolt Dock Not Charging Laptop

With the newer Dell XPS laptops largely abandoning USB-A ports, wired Ethernet ports, and HDMI/DisplayPort ports, having a dock is pretty much necessary for expansion as many current peripherals are still USB-A. I have an earlier Thunderbolt 3 dock on my work-proved Dell Precision, and it requires 2 cords to the laptop, where this Thunderbolt 4 only requires 1 - and has 130W charging pass-through (from the 180W power brick) so it can keep up even when pushing the machine hard. And I'll be able to hook it up to my wired network for throughput greater than what I can manage with WiFi. 5 |

Bought one back in December to use my old Apple Thunderbolt monitor with my Dell laptop. Once I went through the process of updating *ALL* the drivers and the motherboard BIOS, it worked perfectly. And then, tragedy struck. My laptop decided to give up the ghost and I opted to get a lighter HP, so I returned my Dell docking station to work and waited for the wheels of corporate bureaucracy to churn until I got a new one for my HP. It took 7 months, but I got it this past weekend. AND IT STILL WORKED! I fired it up connected to the TB Monitor and it came right up, even before updating everything (which I did). Come Monday morning (today), I have a MASSIVE 27" monitor to work off of. 5 |

Using this docking station with my Dell XPS15. One Thunderbolt connection is now all I need to have my laptop connected to two QHD monitors (one of them widescreen), desktop speakers, keyboard/mouse, and a backup hard drive. That still leaves a few ports available for additional accessories. The only thing that would possibly make this dock better would be the SD card readers that some other brands include. It's nice to be able to just unplug one connection to go portable - and plug back in for a desktop-like experience. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase. 5 |

This is my first review I have ever written (buying computers sine the 1970's), and only because this CalDigit Element is so good I was compelled to write. I have a new Dell XPS 15 inch 9530. I had options of purchasing the Dell WD22TB4 hub (made for this laptop) or getting the CalDigit. After doing a lot of research I choose the CalDigit because of the vast amount of thunderbolt ports. My Dell laptop had some issues like 4 motherboard replacements, 3 speaker replacements, one screen replacement and one keyboard (ALL IN THE FIRST YEAR). I was hesitant to buy another Dell product. I have my OEM Dell power adapter plugged into the USB-C (right side) to power the laptop because the CalDigit only delivers 60 watts which is no problem. The laptop understands which power to use. What do I gain from this decision. I have 3 empty Thunderbolt 4 ports on the CalDigit and one Thunderbolt 4 port on the laptop free (the other TB4 is used to connect the CalDigit). So I end up with: 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports free 4 USB - A (10 gb) available I have the best of both types of ports. I rather make my own decision as to what the port does instead of a hub having only a set determined specific device ports. This unit out performs any hub I have ever had. In fact the CalDigit's construction is amazingly well built and looks good. 5 |

I currently use this switch to share a monitor's USB hub between my work laptop's thunderbolt dock and my desktop PC. It carries my keyboard, mouse, audio, and webcam data without a hitch! Love the price and glad it includes both USB type B cables. 5 |

Went through three docks until finally giving this one a go, and it works! I have a thunderbolt 4 laptop connected to this dock and running 2x 1.4 DP running to dual 4k monitors. Getting 60hz. 5 |

This dock delivers. One USB-C Thunderbolt cable to the HP laptop is all that is needed to drive 2 27 inch monitors, wireless mouse & keyboard, webcam, and a USB thumb drive. The cable also maintains a charge on the laptop and all that is needed is a single touch to the power button on the dock to wake the system. 5 |

Got this to connect my XPS 13 from 2016/2017 to my 27" thunderbolt Apple monitor. It worked straight out of the box. However I have a Dell TB16 dock as well. Tried using that as well. So the dock's usb-c connector goes into the XPS, and the Startech adapter goes from the dock to the Thunderbolt monitor. That didn't work: I needed to update the BIOS, Thunderbolt firmware, thunderbolt driver, and installed I believe the latest thunderbolt application from the Intel website. Everything works now, even the audio and usb ports on the monitor. (facetime camera doesn't work, since it can't find a driver). All in all good buy, but I can't connect my 2019 macbook Pro to my thunderbolt monitor with the startech adapter. Monitor does not activate. Seems to only work with Windows machines. 5 |

I'm suing the Thunderbolt Dock as additional storage space to my existing Thunderbolt Lacie drives, I already had spare hard drives to use in the dock, all daisychained together ensures high speed transfer rates. The RocketStor Thunderbolt Dock was very easy to install & use on my Mac, solid construction that will last. Regarding design faults with this dock, they should have installed a double Thunderbolt port on the unit, for daisychaining devices, & the dock should be supplied with a Thunderbolt cable as standard. 5 |
