Denon Universal Remote

I purchased Denon DCD-600E because I wanted a high quality player without extraneous features that I'll never use (bluetooth, usb port). After a week of playing a variety of music; rock, jazz, r&b, folk, I've concluded that it produces the best sound reproduction of any CD player I've ever encountered (I bought my first CD in the spring of 1986). Instruments and voices sound more distinct and more lifelike than before. It also plays perfectly the CD-Rs that I've burned on my computer. I like the layout of the controls, with the eject button offset below the play, stop, etc. row. My only complaint is a trivial one. In order to change the display mode one must use the remote. It seems to me one more button on the unit, perhaps just to the left of the display, would be appropriate. Personally, I don't use the remote as I almost always play each disc from start to finish. Highly recommended. 5 |

I wanted to simplify my audio setup in my family room. I had a Denon 5.1 AV Receiver setup in 3.1 mode paired with Energy (Klipsch sub-brand) Take Classic 5.1 speakers. This setup sounded great, but it was messy with the amount of cables needed and the power remote button sequence needed to turn the system on/off since the Denon AVR was missing ARC and CEC support. So, I figured a good soundbar would solve both my issues, but I feared it wouldn't sound as good. However, the Sonos Beam Gen 2 exceeded my expectations on sound. Even though I don't have a dedicated sub anymore the Beam produces good bass especially for its size for TV, movie, and music listening. Dialog is very clear as well. The Beam also solved the messy cabling and remote issues. Now to turn on my TV, Chromecast with Google TV, and the Beam soundbar all it takes is a single press of the power button on the Chromecast remote. I am really enjoying the new setup. 5 |

A week into this amplifier and I’m pleased with its performance and value. The A-S301 replaces a Denon PMA-600NE which I had -- briefly. The main problem with the Denon was the dodgy motorized volume control. Like the motorized volume control on the A-S301, it rotates clockwise from about 7:00 to 5:00 either by hand or by using the remote. The problems with the Denon were (1) it had almost no volume between 7:00 and about 8:30, and then the volume came on with a rush and (2) the steps using the remote were too coarse (an online review of a Marantz amplifier – same parent company – noted the same things). I was curious how the Yamaha volume control would work, but I need not have worried. I stuck a little orange dot on the volume knob and it was easy to tell that both the knob movement and the volume levels were aligned, and that the amplifier was capable of fine adjustment manually or with the remote. The other nice feature about the A-S301 (and its siblings) is the loudness control. I haven’t needed it much for contemporary CDs or FLAC files, but recently I got some FLACs and CDs of re-mastered Arturo Toscanini/NBC Symphony recordings from the early 1950s. These are mono, but adjusting both the volume and loudness greatly improved the listening experience. Kudos to Yamaha for that feature at this price point. I’m using a pair of Polk ES15 speakers, which is a combination that several online reviews recommend. I also have a Polk XT10 down-firing subwoofer. My living room is not large, and the Yamaha/Polk setup makes for a very good listening experience. The only thing I miss from the Denon is the built-in Bluetooth for listening. I like to play music from the speakers, and also use a pair of on-ear headphones around inside the house. I still haven’t found a good solution for that, but it certainly wasn’t a deal breaker. Taking all into consideration, and as others have noted, the A-S301 punches way above its weight. 5 |

The Denon Home Sound Bar 550 is one fab sounding soundbar! Very musical, immersive and doesn’t take over your living space. True to the Denon audiophile DNA. That said, the remote is a bit chintzy. Such a quality soundbar should be paired with a better remote. Also, status lights give very little info/feedback. You have to listen attentively after selecting a mode change to see if it’s what you like. Yet, I wouldn’t part with the soundbar because sound is first with me. 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We lose remotes every day, so it's nice to have a universal backup remote. It's very easy to use. Fits nicely in your hand and it's bigger than our normal remote. So I it's been harder to lose lol. Didn't have any problems getting it set up. Pretty self-explanatory. It's a must-have! 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lost a remote to my tv so tried the universal remote and it worked great on my tv. I don't have anything Elsa at this time to connect to the remote but if I did I would. It was easy to use and follow directions too. 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After losing yet another remote, this universal remote is perfect for my smart tv. The size is nice (not too big) and it has enough features but not too many, like some others. I highly recommend this replacement remote for LG tvs! 5 |
